I was there I think there was only around 60 of us. It was held during the day on the upper floor of Sparks and I remember we all ate cereal & Mike Becker and the gang were dressed up as mad scientists. It was a fun day they also had a giant wacky wobbler display in the front window that everybody took turns taking pictures in. It was very mellow compared to these days but Mike was still like Rock Star to most of us back in the day!

It's actually Wednesday!

How about a little Funko history.

The First Annual Funko Fun Day was held on Oct. 19, 2002 at Sparky's at Universal in California. At one time, Sparky's was quite the retailer of Wacky Wobblers (obviously, since the first Fun Days was held there). But even by 2005, apparently Sparky's Wobbler stock had dwindled.

The rarest of all Sparky-branded Funko was the Sparky Bowler with the gold bowling ball. It was only offered at the Sparky's store for an hour or so before it sold out. This Sparky Bowler was exclusive to guests at the "First Annual Funko Fun Day". Only 96 Sparky Gold Bowlers were produced. His Box is the standard Sparky Bowler box, his shirt is Red instead of Black and base print reads "Funatic".

Image+

Though the rarest of the Sparky-ware, the gold-ball bowler was not the rarest Funko at the first Funko Fun Day. Also part of that celebration were: the white, GITD, Count Chocula LE 48, and the Super Freddy LE48.

Awesome throwback to the good ole days of Funko Scotty!! Would’ve been amazing to have been there for the first event!!

For this Wobbler Wednesday, a couple devilish holiday mini wobblers..such a wicked, fun set!! :headbang:

Got these beauties from wild bills before it closed.
Left: 2001 right: 1998
2001: glossy, deeper color, taller, thinner, slightly more detail, (R) symbol on chest. Bottom Funko is spelled “FunKo” (capital K)
1998: matte, faded colors, shorter, stockier.

Trademark changed from “Elias Brothers Restaurant, Inc.” to “Big Boy International LLC”

Well 5 variants with true differences not counting super minor differences such as additional wave releases having slightly different font or the year being different on the underside of the base.

Wes, Nick is definitely, well, shouldn't say cool--but he is. Ditto to Josh, the Zombie Lounge quartet were a favorite sub-set of mine (FYI: quartet = Nick Deville, Phil DeGrave, Big Bad Wolf, and Bamboo Lou (aka King Kahuna). Nick and Phil had SDCC specials, but I don't have those pics online. Very cool Funko originals. Well, mostly original--fun fact: Funko asked owner of Smart Alex Cards (jarbark on board) to use the body of his Smart Alex wobbler for the Zombie Lounge series. The rest is history.

Nis, congrats on grabbing the pair of Big Boys; very nice description/history.

Ad icons are some of the best Wobblers around. So, here are some great ad icons for Wobbler Wednesday (yea, i know it's Tuesday, but only for 3 more hours).

For the well indoctrinated Wobbler collector, it is well known why you need two Bazooka Joes. For those not so familiar with these Wobblers, can you see why I have two of them? Hint: they are not the same and you can see the difference in this picture.

And if you haven't already read about why I have five Colonel Sanders, you can read about them here viewtopic.php?p=813254#p813254

Wobble on!!

Wow Scotty, I really love that Zombie Lounge set! It's cool when there are sub-sets or mini sets to collect in a line! Like how the Spastik Plastiks have the "mechanics" or car people of Chet, Amazing Carlos and Otto. Those Ad Icons are also great! It's cool to see weird variants to things that cause you to stop and do a double take!

Joe, you win the prize. What's pretty cool is that the boxes also mirror the same color sequence difference.

FYI, in every picture I've ever seen of a piece of Bazooka gum, the name always starts with a red "B", so that makes the one with the blue "B" the variant.
