Freddy Wobblers - End of an Era?

Postby Funko5ker » Sun Jul 24, 2016 9:33 pm

From what I have heard, the HOF award tux Freddy switched over to pop form this year. Can anyone confirm? If so, that would mean there was not one Freddy Wobbler this year. Is it finally the end of an era? The end of Freddy Wobblers for good?? :(

I know this isn't the point but does that mean there's a Tux Freddy pop out there?????? I must have it.

I can confirm, it was a gold Freddy pop... I had the pleasure of talking with Abe and seeing his.

I saw this as well. It was very strange to see it go, I tried to ask some more old school collectors what they thought of it but it was too loud.

Hope we haven't seen the last Freddy wobbler... I thought the gold Freddy's POP's were very cool looking but a golden tux Freddy wobbler would be stunning!

I hope so guys. Maybe a Funko shop exclusive Freddy wobbler :) the tux Freddy pop sounds pretty sweet too, don't get me wrong, but nothing beats Freddy in wobbler form IMO . It makes me sad to think we may never see another .

Seems like Wacky Wobbler Award Tux Freddy just may be retired here in Florida. I caught a glimpse of a guy while I was coming out of Target the other day. Unless my eyes deceived me he was wearing what appeared to be a crown with a few of the tips missing. He seemed to be unkempt with scraggly hair and an unshaven face. He was in flip flops and shorts and had on what looked to be a tattered, soiled and slightly glowing orange jacket only visible due to the dim lighting of the parking lot. I heard him muttering what sounded like "it ain't fun, it just ain't fun..." as he pushed his old wobbling grocery cart into the shadows behind the dumpsters all the while nodding his head in a tired gesture that looked to be he was agreeing with his innermost thoughts.

Then he was gone.

Or was I simply imagining it all...... [-(

Craig, that story is too tragic!!! D:
It'd make sense if they retired it since they've retired Wacky Wobblers as a whole (Wobblers but no longer Wacky) But still. End of an era.

I was definitely a little shocked to see the new Pop. I was expecting to see some new Freddy Wobblers this year and was thrown off guard. It's still such an amazing Freddy and an honor to own one. Hopefully we do see some new Freddy's once Wobblers make their official debut.

Freddy Tux wobblers are "old school" and Funko is trying to erase that part of their company. Now it is Pop, Hikari, Rock candy, Dorbz, etc., etc. Brian loves to make the POP and action figure line characters, not the wacky wobblers. This is the new reality and it has proven very successful for Funko!

Wacky Wobblers are pretty much dead :( You may get a movie character once in a while, but that might be it. No more original wobblers. However most companies who abandon their original products and move on to new lines end up having to go retro at some point and re-create their original products.

Have some hope for the future :brilsmurf:

I hear there is a lot more to come in terms of retro from the Spastik Pop line…

That is great for the Spastik line, except I don't do POP.

Great for all you POP collectors and great for Funko because they already hold the license on the character because they created it!

I'm newer to the Funko game than most of the wobbler collectors, but i really wish that they stuck with having a classic freddy wobbler, at very least for the HOF folks. I think it is an integral part of Funko history and where better for it to shine than with the HOF folks. I would have loved to possibly be awarded a unique Freddy wobbler, if i ever get inducted into the HOF in the future. It's unfortunate that it appears i won't get a chance to.

I think they switched it because most people care about pop's now than wobblers. I understand why they did it but at the same time would still love it if they did a wobbler award.

I'm sad to be so new to funko..I've missed such great history and items. I'm truly impressed with the wobble heads in all their different names. If it matters..my vote is to keep at least the freddy wobblers around at least
