Making NFT’s exciting again
It seems that the excitement of NFT’s and the redeemables that come with them is starting to calm down by the way drops are no longer selling out. Do you think offering pops with an even lower LE let’s say 100-500 LE’s or something like that or even a chance for a proto would make things more exciting?

To be honest it really depends on the IP and mold of pops plus the speculation of future drop. This allow people to save and just buy during the drop they are waiting for. Your idea is not bad however I feel like they will stick to what they are doing,

I think they just need to do cool drops again, the extra prizes like protos or something like that are also good idea, but i think it just depends on the nature of the drop

I think it’s a combination of too frequent and so so redeemable merch. The Freddy’s have been the lifeline of the whole digital experience if you ask me.

Would be neat!!!
I personally stopped buying because it's poopy and sad spending like 60 bucks and i get one epic and someone opens one pack and gets 3 redeemable
So maybe the chance of proto could help!

Lowering the LE on any line will create more interest IMO. Maybe if they have a couple of Anime drops with some irresistible redeemables will probably cause a spark.

Let’s just hope the next drop is a something big , I feel like there hasn’t been much hype for a drop since the TDK set .

No... the basic problem is that they need to get some better licenses. A lot of the more recent drops are not licenses that appeal to wider audiences... Reducing the piece count of a property that few people want doesn't help.

I think it falls on the character but throwing in a proto could be helpful with driving the demand.

Yeah. People have reasoned that most Freddy's are on par with Fundays Freddy's and more affordable depending on the property and luck of the buyer.
But for anyone who doesn't collect Freddy's, the interest isn't there for a line that's not popular/redeemables they don't need for the cost of gambling for packs.

its interesting how protos have become the remedy for so many issues. i always thought that proto collectors only represented a small fraction of the overall collecting base.

I think you would need to come out with some must have for the collection. Putting the protos in there as 1 of 1 special coins or giveaways would be interesting.
Mostly I think you lost a lot with the Buckeye indecent and then the common molds coming out that are very similar to the NFT redeemable. Those 2 really made some collectors salty at continuing with NFTs.

Yah the Buckeye thing was a bit heartbreaking. Plus there was no coming back from that. It’s not like they can ask people to send the pop back or exchange it for something else to make things right for the people that got theirs the legit way.

I think the type of drops really play into how many people want it. Some of the lines have had bigger interest than other. I'm sure throwing in a chance of proto would increase interest in some, but I doubt they would do it.

All it takes is a "popular" or unique property to get the ball rolling again! Make the next one an Anime drop and everyone will be back on board!

I wonder if the “premium” NFT got scraped, we only heard of it once & never again; that would make things unique

Re: Making NFT’s exciting again
They should guarantee certain cards in each pack for example: Minimum 1 Epic per Premium Pack Something to make it more balanced when ripping packs.
I also think the price point on packs is very high for the # of cards you get. $10 for 5 cards is $2 a card, which is outrageous if you just get commons/uncommons. Perhaps it should be doubled, Standard Pack 10 cards and Premium 30 cards. At least you would get a higher chance to pull something.

Agree with this. They need to change up the properties. I know Marvel/Star Wars is a pipe dream but there was a rumored Mickey and Friends set.....

I have noticed with the recent drops the struggles to sell out of packs, Do you think its truly the NFT hype has died down or the IP choices they have been having?

I really like the idea of adding some protos into the mix when buying the nfts. It would definitely keep interest in each new drop!

I agree that lower counts would drive interest. But it also might deter people who feel like they have less of a chance of getting something they want.
Alternatively, they could lower the price of the pack drops and maintain the current counts. There have been a few drops that I probably would have tried for, but it just wasn't worth the price for me to gamble on packs. Then by the time the redeemables are out in the wild and I can purchase them directly, I usually fade in interest because of the time and energy it's going to take to actually receive the pop.
Which leads to another way I think Funko could improve interest - shorten the window to redemption...

I’m just wondering if we’re still going with they need better properties as a excuse for the drops not selling out is still valid or if maybe my idea of adding the chance for a proto is now more valid.

I think the slow sales of the last few releases where due to timing, licenses and numbers. The licenses the last few seem to have been either series overkill, or didn't attract enough desire. The rumored Powerpuff Girls would have been a great release during the SDCC release, riding of the hype of the 3 pack.

I think the problem is the fluctuations on pack counts. The last drop Jurassic Park had a huge amount of packs which is kind bad for me IMO because it makes getting the grail that much harder. I wish they would just make a standard amount of packs and leave it there.

I agree with others, it depends on the IP and pack count. I love ripping packs regardless of IP, but seeing how frequent the drops are, I had to slow down.

I'm actually very curious how the decision is made on how many packs to release. It always seems a bit arbitrary.
