Help, how to clean sticky vinyl

Postby Wacky Kim » Sat Dec 30, 2017 10:53 pm

I have a few old vinyl spastik items which are all sticky. Is there a way to clean these and get them sticky free?

I just use dish soap (dawn) and warm-hot water. Use a cotton cloth or if really sticky you can use a magic eraser too, but scrub lightly.

I have this problem with a lot of my wobbler protos. If my Popeye set wasn't behind glass doors they'd be covered in dead and near dead flies!!!

On my protos, if Dawn doesn't work, I'll use soft scrub cleanser diluted on a sponge with warm water, first testing on an inconspicuous area. I use a soft toothbrush to get into crevices. I've also used the soft scrub on a few painted production pieces, but have done so very gently.

I tried to use a magic eraser once, but it disappeared. #-o

Happy new year, Kim !!!!

Great info...i was wondering what else to use beside magic eraser since magic eraser can be harsh sometimes. I guess Dawn dish soap is another option :)

Thanks for this info. I have a couple of Spatiks that have that sticky feel. It’s sounds like they need a warm bath.

I've found that it's best to do the warm bath with candles, rose-scented preferably, and a glass of wine or two. ;-)

I’ve heard it’s a bad idea to give Spastiks alcohol. lol

Try a little TSP cleaner from Home Depot. Works like magic.
