Critics hate it because its not"dark", fans like it. Wizard of oz is one of the only things my wife likes and she loved it.shes a pretty tough critic on all things oz.

I thought it was very pretty and there were a few fun moments but, overall, I was very disappointed with it.

It was better than I expected. Alice in wonderland was garbage. I wonder why no Pops though. We have Pops of the original and we also have Disney pops, so it seems like a natural fit.

I actually picked up the metallic Witch and Monkey that Gemini just had on sale for my wife too! She's really looking forward to the new Oz ones out this year.

She'll love them Kim. My wife thinks the witch and Dorothy are the coolest. She not big on variants so we just ordered her the regular ones, but the collector in me has the urge to get the metallics too.lol

This movie sucked completely. Great effects but it was boring. And I like James Franco, but I think he's a terrible actor.

That's what makes the world great, if everyone liked the same stuff the world would be boring. Franco was supposed to be a d***** and I think he captured it.lol

I'm a huge fan of wizard of oz... this movie, however, left me wanting more.... a LOT more. If they had spent a little less time marketing the movie and a little more time working on the actual movie, it might have a been a tad better. Mainly, all of the acting was horrific! Now, I love James Franco... but he is not a womanizing con-man. He doesn't have it in him. I was just sadly disappointed... Bottom line.

for those of you who were disappointed about James Franco's performance, something to remember is that the script for Oscar was written for Robert Downey Jr who was originally supposed to play Oscar but had to back out due to Avengers/Iron Man filming schedules and they didn't re-work the script when they cast James Franco

I thought it was a good movie for a particular reason: it could sit side by side with the Wizard of Oz and still have that "feel". It is charming like the Wizard of Oz, and didn't go places that would make it feel like a different movie.

Nevertheless, I hope to see an Oz figure especially!

YES FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, there NEED to be Oz the Great and Powerful Pops! I would be all over these. This movie was made for Pops!!! Big Oz fan, I blog about Oz collectibles, I'm sure these would do VERY well. Especially the Wicked Witch, Finley, China Girl, and probably Glinda. They all would but those especially. LOVED this movie, saw it three times and hoping for a 4th before it comes to Blu Ray/Dvd. The cast had a huge job before them and I thought they did great. I don't have any real complaints. I feel like when this comes to DVD I'm going to be like a little kid and want to watch it every day.

I liked the movie well enough, I watched Jack the Giant Slayer the weekend after that. I liked Jack a little more. I don't feel that an Oz Pop is needed. I'm very happy with the classic Oz Pops that are due to come out this year.

That's good to know, because honestly James Franco's performance was the worst out of the entire cast. Which is really messed up since he is the main focus. Maybe Robert Downey Jr. could have done the script justice. Or maybe they just needed a better script... :-k

Overall, still liked it.

I took my wife, she is also a huge Wizard of Oz fan, and I can say we liked it, but didn't love it. I think they missed on a few things and did great on some others.

I liked the movie. It wasn't the best, and yes James Franco kinda annoyed me, but everyone else in the movie I loved. Rachel Weisz especially. She is stunning to watch, and I think I'm finally a fan of Michelle Williams!

I'm hoping to see this this weekend. A friend of ours is in it (Annie Oakley) and it just never worked out to see it in the theaters. It looks like a fun movie, but I can see were critics wouldn't like it already.

I didn't like it one bit.

Didn't see any point in them making it and don't think it added anything to the legend/lore/story that is Oz.

Would hope they (not Disney) do a proper (non-musical) version of Wicked and do the prequel justice.

Brooks just picked it up yesterday. We liked it when we saw it at the theater. Granted, James Franco wasn't the greatest in it, but I liked the rest of the cast. And I really liked the visuals in it, thought the scenery was beautiful!

We bought it because Disney has great coupons recently on their new releases. Haven't watched it yet though. I'm trying not to expect too much since I love the wizard of oz and don't want to get disappointed lol

It was better than I thought it would be. I was afraid it would be another Alice in Wonderland disaster, but luckily it wasn't. It was an enjoyable movie that was worth watching. I however didn't see it in theaters because I didn't think it would be worth it for the cost and I believe I made the right choice after watching it. I personally wouldn't own a copy of it because I don't think I'll have the desire to watch it again anytime soon. It's one of those movies that you watch once, you enjoy it, and then move on to the next one. The biggest problem this movie faced was trying to live up to The Wizard of Oz. You can't not make comparisons between the two. It's unavoidable. Oz the Great and Powerful just didn't come close to living up to The Wizard of Oz. I don't think any film about Oz will really be able to ever. It was like catching lightning in a bottle.
