so I just tried to order the Haunted Mansion pops via merchandise guest services and sadly they said they are an in person item and currently out of stock. I went on to say that that was terribly disappointing because I'd rather give Disney full price than have to pay ebay flipper prices. Plus I was hoping to use my Disney gift card on them I'm not going back to Disneyland until after they re-open the Rivers of America/Fantasmic and Disneyland Railroad.

Anyone have any suggestions for getting these without paying astronomical ebay prices?

So personally I have always found the DisneyLAND customer service department to be the best in all of Disney, they always respond back, and are always helpful... Sadly even they couldn't help this time:

When I was at WDW right before Christmas, they were all out and said they don't know how long they will be out of stock. Figures, especially since I was there in person, and they haven't been back online

For me their connections are only growing, more and more I'm seeing talent from Marvel movies also in other Disney movies, look at the cast of Jungle Book, 4 of the leads in it have recently been in a Marvel or Star Wars movie. On top of that Marvel has had 2 parks inspired series/year for 3 years now (next up is Haunted Mansion), and Marvel is also the comic book home of Star Wars. To me they are every bit as "Disney" as Pixar and Muppets are

Muppets has been tied to Disney since before I was born with Muppet Treasure Island and Muppet Christmas Carol both being distributed by Disney, and Muppets have had a presence at Disneyland as long as I can remember, same for Star Wars (Star Tours) and Indiana Jones. Hell the map of the park that I've had on my wall ever since my first trip has Indy and Star Tours on it, plus Lucas made Captain EO for the parks and He took SW to Disney first back in the day, yes they turned it down but he felt they were the right studio back then. As for Marvel it is the one entity that I can understand the "its not Disney" argument and only because their relationship is far newer

I was hoping for more as well. I'm sure there will be other things that weren't in the catalog (hopefully a lot more). I hope that for NBC this year they won't do yet another version of Jack and Sally and will instead do Lock, Shock, Barrel, and Dr. Finklestein. We need more Disney characters made in general before we see multiple versions of the same character.

When it comes to male characters I have to say there aren't that many must-haves for me personally, except for Aladdin and Flynn Rider. And Beast with cape. For the rest of you though, I'm hoping that there will be lots of men and/or villains now that they've pretty much ran out of princesses.

I feel the same, it's not that I don't like the male characters, but I just collect female Pops, with the exception of a few nonhuman characters (Bing Bong, Cheshire, Oogie Boogie). I would LOVE Esmeralda! And yes, the fact that Pops are getting caught up on Disney is probably why there's not so much Disney this year. There's a lot of lesser known works they could do, but eventually they'll catch up. Then it'll just be the newer works.
