I just did this over the weekend with no problems. When I picked up my online orders, I ended up with 2 of one item after it got cancelled and I re-ordered, then they both came anyway. I was able to swap out the extra for one of the new baby Groot exclusives with no problem.

Picked up a Dancing Groot exclusive and the Harley at my local HT. They had a TON 10-12 of each of them.

I think they wouldn't have any issues with that since it's the same. But however, HT does have many issues with sending damaged Funko boxes. I personally have had 2 shipments with multiple damaged boxes

Ah, that sucks. I guess I've been pushing my luck because I haven't had a problem yet after 4 purchases. Picking one some Pops this weekend so hopefully they made it okay. [-o<

i grabbed an extra in case it was going to be a problem for people to find him. then I lost the reciept after I realized it was not...maybe I will paint him.

You'll still be able to return it, especially if it still has the sticker on the bottom. They should be able to give you store credit at least or let you exchange him for another figure

so, on hot topic's website, when you type funko in the search field, regular dancing groot shows up. when you click funko on the top of the website, the exclusive groot shows up. moronic website

It truly is a horrible experience on their site. I always make note of this to them when they ask me to do a survey about my online experience.

I've ordered a ton of POPs from HotTopic (website to store). Two of my orders (out of probably 15) ended up being shipped to other states. In fact one of my orders was sent to Indiana, and then California (where that store forgot to ship it back for over a week and had to be called by my local store). I'd say about 1/10 POPs are damaged to the point that the store is shocked. Maybe another 1/10 has enough damage that I debate about the purchase depending on how hard it is to track down that said POP.

The store is great to deal with though. They will return POPs for me, let me exchange them, if my exclusive stickers fall off during shipment and get lost they will sometimes have spare stickers to provide me. Now the one time I called the website I got into a huge fight with the rep, and to be honest I never tend to get into confrontations. I'm crazy polite when I deal with retailers in general, because I did retail and more often than not being respectful get's you further.

There's my rant about HT

...and I realize their whole customer support staff for the website probably isnt awful, but the one guy I had to deal with was.

I've exchanged damaged figures I got in the mail from HT. I've never had any issues with exchanging the ones that arrive damaged or getting a refund if they don't have any of the stock I want. I will say, though, their shipping SUCKS no matter what you're ordering from them. More often than not the packaging (if not the contents) is beat to hell.

Little bummed. My Eren (Titan Form Rage) came in today and didn't have a sticker on it. There is still residue where it once was on there. Oh well. Life goes on.. haha

What's the best way to find those kinds of figures on the HT website when they don't show up under a regular search? Do you have to search explicitly by figure name?

I can't recall who pointed this out to me (on here) but Google for something along these lines: 'unmasked captain funko hot topic' and it'll usually show up as the first result. I hope that helps for what you're looking for.
