Great topic and a great discussion, wonder if another toy company would just buy funko outright if they stopped making pops and just make certain lines that are profitable for the company such as the anime line

I've seen this in a few other collectibles' life cycles that I feel are somewhat apples-to-apples with Funko. If they stopped making pops, all prices would go down, most would tank, but a few would retain a fairly high value, not what it was while pops were still being produced, but still respectable.

The pops would either plummet or skyrocket in value but probably plummet since the collectors would probably leave one by one and no one would want to spend money on funko’s anymore. :freddy2:

Would it stay the same, perhaps fluctuating up and down while the collectors deal with the news?

Pops is the one line that has done the best for Funko so if Funko would ever stop making them, I would assume that the company would be dissolved at that point. No pops - no Funko …
It’s the most popular line they ever made!!

My humble opinion is the older popular characters with less overall production would either maintain or bump just a bit. Reason being is because usually the older things they are, the more antique they are considered. There are so many licenses that it would be impossible for everything to see a bump as everything is not going to remain as relevant as others but I do see the short printed relevant stuff still being apart of the “golden” era if you will

i'd think they'd go up overtime. the nostalgia factor would be too strong on the super earlier pops. Think Disney VHS cassette tapes. No functional purpose now but people pay big bucks for them!

The company may no longer be around if they stopped. But I think the collecting community would still be active, though not as big.

Collecting began before funko and will continue after. I just believe it will be a lost if they do stop.

Not sure if anyone saw this morning's news, but Funko Games has been licensed out to Goliath. From what I can gather, Goliath is taking over existing games and new development, while paying both a licensing fee and royalties.

This is what I would think would happen to Pops, as well. Funko licenses out their name and the valuable Pop name and another company makes the product. But I hope it never comes to that and that Funko is around a long time.
