I swear I saw James Gunn say that there was a Yondu pop coming.

He did. I've tried to mention multiple times now that James tweeted that Yondu, Ayesha and Kraglin were indeed coming as pops. As was mentioned, I'm sure they will make up a wave 2 in the near future.

I'm extremely underwhelmed about the Marvel wave. I thought Yondu was the biggest guarantee of all. I'm surprised there's nothing for GotG Vol 2 at all, although I probably shouldn't be, since last year they didn't have anything for Civil War. Tony Stark was another one I was expecting, so it's good to see him here. I like the regular version a lot more, but I will likely get this one too, even though I'm not a fan of the mini helmet. The only other item I would consider is the Gwenpool RC. I'm a fan of Gwenpool, but I plan on passing on the Gwenpool Pop, because I hate selfie sticks. One of the dumbest inventions in history. I have her regular Pop and unmasked exclusive. Don't feel the need for another.

I hate to say it, but I think Funko phoned it in with this wave. The Pops are all just variants of what has come before. Nothing completely new. Of course having some variants is to be expected, but I'm shocked there isn't anything truly new, when it comes to the Pops. I'm hoping the reason for the lack of effort in this wave is because they focused their resources on bringing some extra amazing items to another wave. I only wish it had been Marvel instead that received the love and attention to detail. The only bright spot is that it looks like this will be a very inexpensive SDCC for me. Star Wars and Marvel are my top two Funko interests, and I barely have any interest in the items being shown for this year. GoT and DC are the only two left where they could potentially get me to spend big $. I'd be surprised if GoT got its own wave. I can't imagine there being more than 2 items.

I saw many people hyped about Yondu up to half a year before the movie was released, myself included. It seemed obvious to me he would be one of the biggest stars of the movie, so it was a head scratcher when he was omitted from the main line of Pops, and again from SDCC. Either Funko isn't interested in capitalizing on his popularity (which I highly doubt), or they have other plans for him. I saw James tweet that those three characters would get Pops, and assumed he had insider information, but now I think maybe he liked those characters so much in the movie that he assumed everyone else would too and figured Pops of them would have to come eventually. A wave 2 is maybe possible, but the more time that passes by the less likely it seems.

You guys seem to forget that Yondu Pops from Guardians 1 didn't sell. In fact, Yondu figurines are widely rumored to be responsible for the death of Disney Infinity. His Pops were clearanced out, none of his action figures sold, and a lot of toy makers saw him as a DoA sort of character.

Yondu had nothing to do with the death of Disney Infinity. That's ridiculous. All of Disney Infinity 2.0 was overproduced. And even then, Disney Infinity was profitable, but Disney didn't want to produce games in-house anymore.

NOBODY could've predicted he would be the best character in Guardians 2.

Except Marvel and James Gunn. Who were in Hall H last year telling everyone how big Yondu was going to be in GotG2 and backed that up by previewing a scene featuring Yondu.

Obviously there were a ton of people at Hall H. But just saying I think I'm surrounded by fans being on here, on fb and going to cons and I didn't really run into anyone who ever mentioned anything about any of that to me. This is all NEWS to me. I saw michael rooker at ECCC this year and even going into GOTG2 his line wasn't any longer than it was when he just got done being Merle on TWD. There really didn't seem to be a lot of prehype for him prior to the movie by even the ECCC crowd.

At the end of the day we'll agree to disagree. Yondu w/new finn could show up as an SDCC POP, that would be pretty cool. But my money is on a future GOTG2 Wave, maybe around the time of Blu Ray/DVD release? But who knows the hype is already dying down, it seems like all the hype now is about Wonder Woman.

What may have filtered down to the rest of fandom is beside the point. Marvel and Gunn were hyping Yondu at the biggest pop culture event, almost a year ago. His popularity was something they were planning for upon the release of the movie; it was not some accidental viral thing that no one was anticipating.

All of you here are forgetting one key fact, which is that Funko stated in a twitter Q&A that it is very possible that some of their biggest licenses may have multiple waves. Considering the fact that there was only one MCU character and no dorbz in this wave, I would say that it is very possible that Funko's second biggest license will receive another one.

And we went bonkers for them haha. I know I sound like an old man talking about "back in my day", but introducing new molds for SDCC is a relatively new thing. Maybe that makes me more accepting and forgivable towards waves like these?

Anyway, I honestly don't want to upset people on here haha. I hope a majority of you are eventually overjoyed as more waves are revealed. Funko never disappoints when it comes to con exclusives, I promise.

I must be in a weird place here because this wave reminds me a lot of classic Funko exclusives of 2013 and 2014. When I first started caring about SDCC exclusives, they were all strictly repaints. And we went bonkers for them haha. I know I sound like an old man talking about "back in my day", but introducing new molds for SDCC is a relatively new thing. Maybe that makes me more accepting and forgivable towards waves like these?

Anyway, I honestly don't want to upset people on here haha. I hope a majority of you are eventually overjoyed as more waves are revealed. Funko never disappoints when it comes to con exclusives, I promise.

It's the low quantity of pieces from this wave that really bothers me. That, and, I don't really like the characters they did give us.

Just saw the trailer. Big fan of the character and so glad this will get it the attention it deserves. Amazing. If you have never read the Black Panther comic book run by Christopher Priest, do it now!

Can't wait to see the level of detail on the Pops and Dorbz from the movie, especially with the intricate costumes of the warriors of Wakanda.

I agree a bit lackluster for SDCC. Hoping NYCC has better pickings. Grabbing Red She-Hulk and Tony only. Perhaps the DC wave would be better.

No Guardians? Lame. I'll only be after Stark and Gwenpool, and that's saying something. I usually go after all Marvel I can get.

It might be a little early for Black Panther, but I'm still expecting another wave with something from Thor: Ragnarok. It's coming out around the same time that Dr. Strange did last year. Maybe a helmeted or unhelmeted arena Thor. Hela wearing her headdress.

I feel like even if the suit looked pretty much the same, the pose would be an action-y one like a crouch or extended claws or something. But I agree, we're def gonna see Thor before BP anything. I just need helmeted arena Thor and a nice flight pose maybe? And Valkyrie.

Black Panther with GITD accents and claws on the suit. 'Nuff said!

Thor with removable helmet and short hair could be good, but I am still waiting for a Hulk pop that deserves the name HULK!. 6 inch POP (but Funko, feel free to go bigger to 9 inch scale), detailed enough but still Funko without going to realistic action figure like the Marvel Select series (which by the way is awesome)

Possibilities are great for the upcoming lines.

So, in the last two days I've gone to 5 different Walgreens and not a single one had Juggernaut or Superior Spider-Man. It's pretty disheartening when a bunch of stores don't even have one item you are looking for, so a lot of wasted gas for nothing. I've post in the WTB section here and on IG and all I've gotten so far were some people on IG who wanted prices that were just a bit too high.

I'm not bitter, to be clear, I know it's part of the game, I just wish the Walgreens exclusives were a little easier to get. I still haven't seen Green Goblin anywhere, so it's pretty frustrating to want the ones from Walgreens and not be able to get them for close to retail.

I'll be patient though, and I know I'll get them...eventually. I hope.

Surprisingly no. The most Marvel I found were a lot of Ms. Marvels, aside from her there was a ton of Star Wars, wrestlers and some DC. I was pretty disappointed I didn't find Juggernaut, since he's been out for awhile, and didn't really expect to find Superior Spider-Man yet, but I was hopeful.
