Re: Marvel POP! Updates Thread 2017 (Updated Dec 21st)
My Marvel hopes for 2018:
X-Men: Nightcrawler, Bishop, Gambit, Rogue, Jubilee, an updated Phoenix, Domino and tons of others
Other: Updated Nick Fury, Darkhawk, Nightmare, Mephisto, Robbie Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze with the long hair, trench coat and hellfire shotgun, classic Hercules, Nova, Namor, Wasp, Maria Hill, Silver Sable, Black Cat, Firestar, Sandman and a hundred others.
That is all...not much, right?

I'm with you - I'd love to see some of the classic heroines/villains like Spiderwoman and Black Cat rather than some of the newer characters like Spider Girl. Or comic versions of Scarlet Witch and Elektra since they've shown us they're willing to bust out comic variants like the comic Valkyrie, which I love love loved.

Yes! I really want all classic costumes, at least from the 90s, as that's what I grew up on. Some movie versions aren't bad of course, but overall I prefer classic versions. I skipped Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Elektra and the MCU Valkyrie for that reason. Thankfully Luke and Valkyrie got classic versions(although I don't have them yet), so I'm holding out hope for Jessica and Elektra!

I know deep down that Thanos does not warrant a 10 inch pop but I also know he's my all time favorite comic book villain and that I am weak.

He does have the power to pretty much virtually do whatever he wants, maybe in the movie he makes himself really big something? That, or Funko just made another 10 inch pop because they could.

The former would be cool to see but the latter is quite obviously the answer.

So far, none of the 9 or 10 inch POPs have been in the scale in the way that the 6 inch ones are.

I mean, the Groot sort of made sense. It was supposed to be a life-sized version. I still don't quite understand why they made a 10-inch Hulk instead of a 6-inch one, but whatever.

Hi guys.
One question: is "Spiderman 259 upside down" going to be released separately or have I to buy all the walmart gift pack? A friend of mine told me he has seen a photo of that pop with the european exclusive sticker. Is that true?
Thanks

I have only seen the one packaged with the Blu Ray. I also only saw it at one of my local Walmart's and didn't get it cause I was there for some other stuff, went back and now its gone. Hopefully I run across another one soon. I had already bought the movie, so that kind of turned me off of getting another one.

Bundle only. They're clearanced over here, you should take a quick check if you really want it. $15 for the pop and some other goodies is worth it.

Right, 35$ would be great, but they don't ship to italy. I could use a mailbox service but, if you consider all the steps, in the end the price is 70$ more or less.

There's usually not for the Fox movies. They haven't done action figures or merch since the first couple of X-Movies, I think? At least not widely announced. I haven't seen any since my favorite, Cyclops with goo trapped Jean Grey.

The Wolverine Origin movie was the last X-Men film to get tie-in merchandise. This is my conspiracist talking, but I don't think it's a coincidence that the merch stopped coming in right as the MCU started getting big.

It’s been an open secret, widely discussed in the comic community, that Marvel embargoed X-Men and the FF with regard to merchandise and games (and books for the FF) for the last few years because they wanted those rights back from Fox. The only real point of contention was whether they were being petty or whether they were just focusing on the products they had 100% stake in, as Marvel insisted. And it turns out that the easing of those embargoes was a vanguard to Disney’s proposed purchase of Fox assets.

Well, apparently we're are getting Deadpool 2 pops. So, something may change with the Disney-FOX deal even without finished. Wich it's curious because, in the case of Deadpool, since he's a fourth-wall character, could be part of the MCU in the future. If it's true that we're getting Deadpool 2 merch, it could hint something.

There was a LARGE line up of pops for the first Deadpool movie, although it didn’t have any official movie branding, they still put out a lot of Deadpool merch to coincide with my the movie.

The first Deadpool movie was accompanied with some pops, and while they were Deadpool, they weren't themed after the movie in any way. I expect the same for the sequel.

This is what I remember too. It was probably a little of both. Pettiness and not wanting to put effort into something they wouldn't be getting as much money off of. I know a few figures trickled out but not a lot, and certainly not with as much fanfare as the Marvel owned properties.

I think once Disney gets fully into the X properties and begins taking creative control, we will start seeing the same types of merchandise roll outs we see with current Marvel movies. But I think Disney needs to "clear the field" of a few of these random x movies.

In terms on merch, the chances to see more comic merch based on X-Men and F4 are higher. If we talk about movies, I could see the F4 (that's an obvious one) and X-Men get rebooted with a fresh casting, but in the case of Deadpool, considering how succesful has became and counting that Deadpool 2 will make a lot of money, I could see Disney-Marvel reconnecting at least the character to the MCU, afterall thanks to the character nature, they could find the most absurb way to include him at it could work well.

Yeah, I don't see Disney-Marvel letting go of Deadpool. I'm pretty sure they said they were into keeping some of their properties R-Rated? I'd have to go back and find some of the articles and look for a legitimate source, but it would be foolish to ruin the Deadpool franchise that way. While I enjoy the X-Movies, I'd only be sad to see a few of the actors go. I'm not attached to them as much as I used to be. (Or as I am to the older cast.) Plus... I mean.. Logan already happened.

Deadpool does not have to be in a rated-R movie to work. In most comics, Deadpool is actually rather tame. Sure, it wouldn't be the exact same Deadpool that became the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever, but as long as the character stays true to his core, he'll be fine.

Deadpool can work R-rated or PG-13. I wouldn't oposse to see him R-rated in his solo movies and PG-13 in some team-ups. I am not saying that any other actor can do the role, but Ryan Reynolds really nailed the role and I could see Disney keep him as Deadpool as long as the movies performs well $$$.

Agree with everything you are saying...I do not believe based on the money already generated by Deadpool that Disney will demand too much tweaking. But in an effort to pull in a little more money, I'm sure they will throw some Marvel U characters into the mix.
