Do they grade proto's? Just curious as I think I'd like to encase mine since there is no box.

Re: PSA Grading of Pops
I think it’s dumb as hell but if it turns a $30 pop to a $300 pop, grade away! Might follow suit for the good ol flip

I guess this was bond to happen. Can we bring our pops to sdcc to get graded?

Can that be done there? Would be far more convenient than sending it in, especially if I want to sell them there.

I have no clue. I take comics to sdcc to get them graded by CGC. Being Canadian the cheapest way to get comics graded is bringing them to cons.

I’m not a fan but I think it’s only useful for the ultra rare pops just to ensure authenticity since there are a lot of fakes out there. When I saw not as rare pops get graded and folks expected 10x in ppg for $ or trade bait I just look the other way.

Never really cared about grading much. Most people do it to flip and sell rather than collect.

I'm in in box collector but I am on the fence about PSA..Never being able to open the box to see the pop does make me sad but then again knowing the pop is protected does make me happy..Wonder if it is water proof. When I hear about hurricanes and floods my mind goes to omg what if these people who left their homes have collections. The grails

Re: PSA Grading of Pops
Has anyone ever seen a Pop graded PSA 10? The highest I've ever seen is a 9, since even the most minty of boxes seemingly has small blemishes.

Re: PSA Grading of Pops
For me when it comes to grading, it just depends. I have to make sure that the company has a good reputation or has been in the grading business for some time. Like for comics I trust CGC and CBCS, just like cards you have PSA,CGC, and Beckett. I also want to know what they take into consideration in the grading. For example, for me it’s easier for me to look at my comics and I can tell that it will come back a 9.8 or lower if I decide to get my book signed and graded. When it comes to cards it’s harder for me to tell, I think card grading has a harder grading criteria than comics. Now pops, do they just grade the box or the pop itself, because if they take both into consideration then it will be hard to get a 10 because first they would have to look at the box to see if it has any damage and then they would have to open the box to pull out the pop and inspect it. Who is to say that the box is mint, but once they open it, they might damage the box to try to get the pop out to check the paint job. There already was once a grading company, can’t remember the name of them. They graded a fake OG pop as real, so from the start pop grading has been iffy. It’s cool don’t get me wrong.

Re: PSA Grading of Pops
It's very rare to find a box in any type of grading condition. Even harder i imagine to get one above a 9.

Are you able to access the graded Pops or are they completely sealed? Always wondered about this.

No need to get graded if OOB. Let them breathe and enjoy those pops.

Sealed. It wouldn't make much sense if you could access the Pop after it was graded.

Honestly I'm not a fan of the grading. I understand how some may like it, but I feel like it can teeter the line between beneficial and dangerous

Re: PSA Grading of Pops
I like the authentication of the pop itself but I think it’s kind of silly.. but then again almost any other card or collectible can be sent in for grading and said submission is worth more with a higher grade. I hope it helps cut down on the “is this a fake?” In every pop group I’m in but otherwise I’m not sending any of my stuff in anytime soon. Then I can’t take them out and play with em anymore!

Re: PSA Grading of Pops
Sometimes I think about sending in some pops to have them graded I would think like comic books you would want to do the lower count pops just so they keep their value

Re: PSA Grading of Pops
It sounds good in theory. But I think it really comes down to a personal preferences. The sealed/graded pop is to bulky for my inbox display area and I wouldn't be able to take the pop out if wanted to change up my OOB display. So it's a no for me.
I also got burned by an ebay seller who cancelled my purchase because they wanted to send the pop in to be graded and sell it for more money. Kinda rubbed me the wrong way and turned me off from pop grading.

Kinda want to send in the most damaged box possible to get a PR 1 grade

I think grading Pops is next-level/unnecessary. Unless they are signed potentially... or first edition/numbered?

I never knew you could get pops graded until recently. Now I see you can get vhs tapes graded too. It make me think of what’s next. Not sure I would go through the trouble of getting something graded.

I wouldn’t mind buying some autos, If it’s true that PSA only grades autographs that are witnessed. Am a big fan of the CGC gold labels where I know the actual artist signed it.
