SODA POP Club

Postby FFJim » Mon Sep 05, 2011 12:49 pm

I had a thought. Do you "love" all flavors of POP? Would you split a case of POP with fellow POP connoisseurs to get your POP for less-than-advertised prices? Would you like POP on subscription (order once, get POP fresh off the line as released)? Would you be interested in joining the SODA POP Club?

Yes. The on-line store 'Brian's Toys' has a 'one of every figure' subscription for all new Star Wars figures where you automatically are shipped one of each new figure. I'd totally be interested in this for the other Brian's toys.

I, too, like the idea of letting some of them pile up to make the most out of shipping.

For those of us who do Pop! and must have them all (seems too be a quickly growing trend), this sounds like a great way to go. This would allow Freddy (who runs the Funatic store - Jim is just a stock boy) to place his orders knowing that the stock will sell quickly and not clog up his magic bag of toys. It would also provide a sure way for us Funatics to know we will be getting everything Pop! that we could want.

The only logistical challenge (as our Mr. Groundhog7s has pointed out) would be how to keep shipping at minimal cost for the buyers, and minimum hassle for the stock boy.

Still not doing Pop! myself, but for those who do, why not by subscription????

I currently buy all of my Pops for full retail through Bigbadtoystore for the sole reason that I can 'pile my loot' up and ship it when I have a bunch of stuff for minimal shipping. It's not that I want to support them because I want to support their business, but because it's the most economical way to get them. It's usually cheaper to get them that way than when a company has Pops for a lower price because shipping ends up being around $1 per item or less that way. I'd love to support smaller companies, but can't always justify it.

It always costs me more to ship to Australia than the actual cost of the wobblers in the parcel unfortunately. :-/
That's why I always save to make a large order.

Likelihood: Very low. If you would COMMIT to getting all Pops released, shipping monthly, every other month, or quarterly, add your name to this list and specify a shipping frequency:

n. Example: John Doe (quarterly)
1.
2.

Not that it helps now but if it was this time next year, I would certainly put my name on this list. Hopefully the soda pop club will accept new members if it gets going.

Yep, and the MINIMUM order for NO DISCOUNT is 6 pieces. With only 4 interested people so far, no way, no how would this happen. I don't see a Soda Pop Club emerging.

Kudos Jim on a really great idea. I'd really like to see this succeed, and I hope you get enough people to participate. I just don't have the money to commit to something like this. I love the pop line, but frankly there's only a small percentage of them that I want for my collection...it would just make sense for me to buy them individually as they come out.

I also only buy a few POP pieces for my collection here and there. It is really character-based for me, so I could not commit to this either. However do not give up hope that more people could not join!

OK, now it's been over two weeks and still only four people on the list. There will not be a Soda Pop Club, at least not through Funatic Store. C'est la vie.
