Retired Pop! Figures
Hey everyone. I was looking through trying to figure out what figures are "retired" from production and didn't see any thread talking directly about it. (If there is I will delete this and just post in it.)
When looking through the photos of the 2012 Funko magazine I noticed that some of the series had missing figures. I assume this is because the missing ones are retired and will not be produced any more. If that is the case then here is a list of the ones I noticed missing.....
Penguin
Riddler
Hal Jordan
Sinestro
Thor (Original, not Avengers)
Loki
Red Skull
Han Solo
Greedo
Jam Master Jay
Bob Marley
Jimi Hendrix
Mike W
Sulley
Boo
George Sanderson
May be more missing but those are the ones I found. Could make these ones all jump up a bit so you might want to grab any of these you're after while the getting is good.
On that note.... I'm still looking for Mike and Sulley both regular and SDCC if anyone has them for sale.

Loki for sure is retired. Probably the first Thor too, from the movie release.

I believe someone here, possibly it was Bo? That said Riddler/Penguin were both recently retired as well.

Yeah I thought I had heard that Mike/Sulley and Penguin/Riddler were which is why I assumed that their absence might mean the same deal for the others.

I hate that Boo, Ozzy and Riddler are retired as they're on my want list.
I figured/knew Mike and Sulley were though. I'm surprised George Sanderson is retired, as he's still at DS.com. Maybe he had an under-whelming sale?

I think it's kinda premature to assume a pop figure has been retired, because it doesn't appear in Funko's new catalog. There could be other non-production related factors as to why X didn't appear in the catalog. Just my 2 cents.

There were certainly plenty Riddlers available in S. Florida! Took this at my local BN a couple days ago.

Re: Retired Pop! Figures
OhMylanta thats a lot of Riddler, you have ALL of them that are remaining out in the wild right there lmao
Also to keep note, it shouldn't be tough to find when retired, there is still a lot of stock out there, once that goes down then they will be tough to grab. Also as Carol_Lynn just proved, some regions may be dry of a certain pop while another area has a ton. This is why I am still convinced there are shelves filled with unsold Loki sitting somewhere on clearance because no one wants him

Yes actually. I'm a broke college student so it may take a week or two for me to gather the cash (I said I was broke) but I would really love that.
I'll check my BN for a Han Solo this weekend.

I was thinking that too when I saw the missing Riddler, Penguin, Hal and Sinetro.... however with the rumblings that Penguin and Joker are retired and the same with Mike and Sulley I figured it would be a good asumption that the rest of the others will soon be hard to find. I wasn't trying to insite any panic in anyone, just give people some heads up on ones that they might want to pull the trigger on sooner than later.

That's a fair point. I just didn't want people going crazy for them like they have been for Loki, just based on speculation. And you're observation may very well be correct anyway. It sure would be nice if Funko had an official Pop! figure liasion to let us know which ones have been retired.

Re: Retired Pop! Figures
It's not so much when they are retired but how well they are selling after they are retired. Sure any piece that is retired will dry up sooner or later. I mean in the past month Boo from Monsters Inc has pretty much tripled in price on ebay. I think once the next dark knight movie comes out guys like the Joker/Riddler will become hot and they will be all gone. But thats just my opinion
I think with loki, funko realized there aren't many loki fans (most marvel fans hate him ) to begin with, so they might have made less Loki then the others.

Everyone thought for a while the Disney series 1 was gone. Remeber Jack selling for $25. bHe is ack out and selling for $8.95. One call to China for 200,000 more Penguins, Riddlers, Lokis is all it would take. If the demand is there I am sure they would make more in a hurry.

@ Meth, for some reason my daughters love Loki. They love the Loki Pop even more than Thor. Not only is the Thor Loki rare, but it appears that Loki isn't in the new line up with the Avengers Pops that are coming out.

I know but who is getting the pieces in because it seems as though only the eBay crowd has them and gets more to sell back to us at $30 or more a POP.

The Ebay crowd that are also vendors that go to the Comic Con's or have their own comic book store and resale to us at a higher price. That just my frustrated evil speculation.

Re: Retired Pop! Figures
I think everybody jumped the gun thinking that Jack was going to be retired. If places were doing pre-orders and even B&N at the time, I would have concluded that he was going to come out after Disney series 2 ended at the Disney stores (exclusive first rights). Now the only pre-orders that we didn't see was Boo, so it was possible that she's going to be retired, but since it seems all Monster Inc. characters are out of stock, it's possible that something happened with production.
Prices are driven up because of demand and not enough supply. And smart sellers know their stuff and do their research, I'm sure some of them reads these boards to know what's popular and rare.
But hopefully, and I do mean hopefully... with the Monster's University movie coming out next year, hope they come out with Sulley and Mike pop again. Just don't bet the farm on it!

I would think the Holiday POPs would be more likely to be retired because of they seem more seasonal. But aside from Loki (which I now have, Yay!) I have not had any real problem finding any figure I was looking for.
Then again, I have not been looking for any of the Monsters Inc. people.

JUST HAVE TO REMEMBER- THEY DON'T CALL IT A SLOW BOAT FROM CHINA. ONCE THE ORDER IS MADE THEY HAVE TO BE PRODUCED THEN SHIPPED HERE WHICH CAN TAKE MONTHS FOR THEM TO BE RELEASED FROM CUSTOMS THEN TRUCK ALL OVER THE COUNTRY TO THE WAREHOUSES THEN SHIPPED TO THE STORES.
