Re: The NBA is Faaaaantasticly Pop!-A-Licious!!!!
I'm diggin these, but it's one of those lines that only makes me want more and more. I'm sure there are licensing issues with NBA greats, but it'd be awesome to go really far with these. The top of my want list would be even harder since it's all about a franchise that doesn't exist anymore.
If they were able to do the big dogs like Magic, Bird, Jordan, Barkley, etc., I would be really excited. There's so many they could make in this sub-line....
All that said, I really like this series 1 too. Fun stuff. I've got a pre-order in for all of them.

You could do NBA all time greats too, like Jordan, Magic, Bird, etc... too cool!
What about a MLB set of Pops!
So many starts to choose from that would be great as Pops...
David Ortiz, Derek Jeter, David Wright, Albert Pujols, Prince Fielder and so on and so on...
Cliff, we have tentative approval on an NBA legends line that would include everyone from Magic, WIlt, Larry Bird etc...
Not to jump the gun Brian, but do you think you will also do some for other lines (MLB, NHL, NFL, MLS, EPL)?

actually of the Knicks on that era I was more of a Charles Oakley fan. I would NOT buy an Oak pop though. You know its only a matter of time before you Oak Pop beats down the rest of your collection.

Sorry! I'm on my phone and for some reason I thought it was you. When I quoted it there were several quotes and I deleted too much and took the original quote tag, and when I replaced it I used your name because i thought you had said it.

I heard that due to injury, Derrick Rose will held out of the initial release, but once his Pop is rested, he may return in time for the playoffs

Totally adorable. These are really great. Perfect players for a first wave, also. Since you've just done a sports wave of Pop! I think NFL would be a great September/October release.

I'm a huge NBA fan but for some reason I'm on the fence with these. However if you put out a legends of the NBA collection I would buy every single one in a heartbeat.

After a 12-9 start, the Spurs lost only seven more games the rest of the season. Only two games in the loss column since mid March. Won the last 12 straight. No pops in group one. So if they can win #5 Funko will have no Pops made of the champs when it happens.

We can talk bets as it gets closer to conference finals.... Spurs have easier road to conference finals as lakers have to get passed okc.... But spurs second round match up will more than likely be Memphis who upset them last year.... But if it's lakers spurs conference finals I might bet you a cheapie pop....

I asked a guy about this too at a local comic shop. It was explained to me like this:
The other 9 players can be ordered individually from Funko, but Jeremy Lin has to be ordered in a 16pc assortment set of all players, and even then there is only 1 Jeremy Lin per 16pc assortment set ordered.
So for example; if my bud at the comic shop orders 10 of the 16pc assortments, he'll have 10 Jeremy Lins. But he'll have 30 Lebrons, and 30 Griffiths and so on. So I am taking it that sellers are a little turned off to that. And that is what is going to make it rare...I guess.
But as it has been pointed out, its not a chase. Maybe this is Funko's way of giving us hints of what will have limited runs/retired POP! Hopefully that helps. I was confused at first when it was explained to me, so sorry if my pass along explanation is confusing.

No, it's helpful! I guess we'll have to make sure we get a Jeremy Lin early then.

still seems weird/wrong that non-chase characters are now being marked up before they're even released, because they'll probably be retired sooner.

Re: The NBA is Faaaaantasticly Pop!-A-Licious!!!!
Seems wrong, but they are more "rare" compared to the others. Seems wrong that people are pre-ordering for that much when they could just buy the whole set themselves for a little more than the Lin pre-order. Heck, a $50-pre-order, when you could spend $80 more and get a free proto and the rest of the series from Gemini... I have no idea why someone would do the pre-order for Lin alone.

I agree. I checked around on other sellers sites, and I happened to notice last night that Pop Cultcha won't be selling the Jeremy Lin piece individually like the rest of the set. So, at this point, I'm crossing my fingers to find one in the wild or I may have to go with one off of eBay, or Amazon.
