Saturday SDCC Update

Postby JBiz » Sat Jul 14, 2012 1:14 pm

Here's the update on funko SDCC Exclusives:

Loki sold out for the day
Fantasia sold out for the day
Sulley/Boo sold out for the con
Oogie sold out for the con

Was in line to get in by 8:30. By the time I got into the convention center the line was capped. Still got inline after a few minutes. Got into booth by 9:30 to see the last if fantasia sold and Loki long gone for the day. That was my 2nd day trying. I wish they'd limit it to 1 per person or give a priority to board members. Funko does so many great things for their fans. Fun days was sweet. But sold out by 9:30 is a bit of a disappointment.

Good thing I have some fundays stuff to trade...

Things are being sold fast! Maybe they should set limits like Hasbro. They punch the badge so people can't get more than than what is allotted to them. Doesn't make me feel like trying to get there early tomorrow.

I thought there were supposed to be a certain number of Pop!s available each day. How can Sulley/Boo and Oogie be completely sold out already?

Not all of this is true...

I was at the booth not a half hour ago and Loki's are still on the shelf.

Not certain about the others, but its early in the day and sometimes boxes are opened that have been set aside...

When I was there Friday they got more boxes of Loki that arrived later in the morning. I don't know why it's done this way.

I had someone, who went Thursday to the Con, try to get Sulley & Boo but he had no luck.....he managed to get my Monster High exclusive, so alls good! Too bad Funko doesn't put a limit of something like three per person....I can imagine its such a great disappointment after waiting in line so long!

It's funny that I was talking to a friend on another board who's at SDCC this year. Last year he picked up some of the Disney Pops for me and said he just walked right up in the middle of the day and bought some. I told him I was glad I wasn't asking him to get anything this year because he would have wasted his time. It's funny what a difference there can be just in one year. And now the pre-buy for everything seems to make a lot more sense all of these.

Well that's what I was told. If they brought more Lokis, they were gone when I went back. Some of this came from Brian. I asked everyone working the booth in case one new of a box that the others didn't. They told me to wake up earlier and run faster to the booth. Lol.

Everything besides the ones I mentioned were pretty well available at least yesterday. Frankenweenie doesn't really seem to be moving, I saw Brian sell that to someone who didn't wait in line, just because it was the only thing she wanted.

I am not interested in Frankenweenie and no one in my household requested it. I saw a few Sheldon's left over. Some people just don't appreciate his awesome-ness. LOL

there was a mix up with the funko pallets, done by freeman not by funko, and this resulted in all of OOGIE and SULLEY being sold out. LOKI, Fantasia set, Batman pop, pooh, and darth maul all go quick. We will also be sold out of Frankenweanie early tomorrow.

Just a random question...

What happens to the pieces that don't sell out when the con is over?

I'm sure there aren't THAT many left over, but I figure there would be some.

If that's the case maybe I still have a shot at a $60 9" Blue Mickey! That is If I'm not able to win one of the 4 i have on watch on eBay that expire tomorrow evening for less than $80.

Btw, I would adore if anyone happens to be able to get a Loki. I would gladly send you cash through PayPal for it. Going into this weekend I didn't really anticipate how much it would bother me to not have him since he's #16 in the Marvel Series. I'm sure you completists feel my pain lol.

I didn't say they would be at retail price lol. All of the Disney were listed at like 2-2.5x when they were listed. Steve made a post letting us know about the price increase, something with an agreement of some sort.

Yeah, a boy can dream though. Blue Mickey was listed for $60 on Gemini up until a little before my paycheck went through Friday morning. I also missed a Loki from Gemini on eBay within an hour or so wait for my paycheck. Talk about frustrating...

They were crazy long ! I think with the popularity of pop among disney collectors and with those who flip disney items, the demand for this stuff was off the wall !

I met Bo when I went through the line on Friday. I told him what I was looking for during the course of our conversation. Of course one item I was looking for was Sulley & Boo. Through a fortuitous string of events, I was able to get a hold of one, even got Ben Butcher to sign it.

Anyway, when I was hanging around the booth later in the day, Bo approached me and told me he was holding one for me. Never asked him to do it, just took it upon himself to help a member out.

I do have an extra, but not because of that. I did the prebuy and bought one there. Told Bo I didn't need the one he set aside for me.

My extra may be available eventually, but there are a few things I'm still looking for, and I may need trade bait.
