How do you take a good pic of GITD POP! figs?

Postby FunkoPOPfanpage » Mon Jul 30, 2012 9:35 pm

Hey there Everyone was looking for some tips. So I got my GITD Darth Maul and it looks amazing while it's doing it's GITD thing. I tried to take a pic of it but didn't work so good. I know I've seen some people have some pretty good GITD pics so I was wondering if anyone could provide some tips?

Is there a particular setting on a camera that works best, etc.

Thanks in advance for any tips and tricks!

I haven't tried but I think if you take a pic with flash first it gives tr glow a good charge.

I'm going to order a black light off Amazon now. They have some that are pretty cheap. It's bad though when the first couple reviews you read are from people who are using it to find animal waste on carpet. Not exactly what I had in mind. 8-[

Not that I've taken pics of GITD Pop before...

I found the black light didn't do much for my Pops for some reason. I charge mine up for a little bit with a 200 watt natural light bulb (I actually have two cheap lamps from Walmart with one in each) and then just take the picture with the flash off. I seems to work for me.

Now I don't have any more secrets.

Is there any way to take a picture of a GITD figure with a digital camera? I've tried different settings, but none of them seem to really work.

Yes I could do that, but I did buy a black light and did want to be able to take my own photo.
I used a black light and turned off the flash. I could barely make out Oogie Boogie in the pictures.

I would suggest sunlight is going to be the best source to charge with. So setting up a 'dark room' through the day and moving the figure from the sun directly to the dark would give you maximum brightness I would think (a tanning bed would work well too if you had access to one).

Even at that maximum brightness though, you are still going to require camera settings equal to a very low exposure value. If you have manual settings available to you on your camera you are going to want to set a large aperture and a slow shutter speed. Using a greater ISO setting will also help capture the dull light but will increase the graininess of the image.

You may find, depending how brightly the figures glow in the dark, that some lower end or point-and-shoot cameras simply won't have the range of settings available on them to capture such a low level of light.

Oh and, yeah, you definitely don't want the flash on if you're trying to capture the glow in the dark effect.

Black light does charge them well, but all I have are cell phone cameras and an ipad camera, nothing good enough to take a picture.
