Someone running a local comic shop told me recently that all 1/36 pops are being vaulted. Does anyone know if this is true? I did some looking online but can't find anything

I really like this too as I only started collecting early this year and the aforementioned 2 pieces were pretty much outta my budget esp that Deku!

I always think that if amazon no longer sells them on prime, then they most likely have been vaulted. Once a pop reaches that point, you can't seem to find it anywhere.

With vaulted stuff, there's always a worry that they could be bought up and driven to crazy prices similar to reserved list MTG cards. It's cool to have stuff in your collection rise in value but it can also feel bad to have a lot of pops out of your price comfort range

SerlentPop let out Tenya being vaulted. It didn't show on Funko.com only to vendors.

^^^ There is a lot of truth to this.

Yes! It definitely keeps flippers somewhat at bay, so there isn't a mad rush to get pops for the possibility of resale (looking at the new predator movie line)

The thing is - we don't know if Tenya being vaulted is a foreshadow of things to come. Like they said earlier - Brian doesn't really like to announce when products are going to vault. There has been cases in the pass where a certain figure from a set vaults.. There has also been cases where the entire set vaults eventually but just one or two figures at a time. That could very well be the case here because we all know eventually there will be a wave 3 of my hero academia with the insane popularity. I believe by the time we get to the 3rd wave the original wave will be vaulted but this is just speculation at this point. I also agree with @KidMarvel - Brian is definitely in favor of the collector and anything that Funko can do (and heck even toy Tokyo at this point) - they will do in order to make sure the most collectors get their products in their hands. They don't want nobody betting the item down and reselling so it makes perfect sense.

Apparently only vendors can see it but from what I been told he's gone. Either way if you don't got him you should get him ASAP.

Those Step Brothers pops did not really release as wide as I would have thought. I never really saw them in the wild at all.

IMO Funko should have more transparency with this issue, did they discontinue the vault? I mean, it's not like the collectors thought up the idea, Funko made the vault and for months now it's rather defunct/secret. I would imagine only store owners now know whether a Pop is discontinued since they wouldn't be able to order any more of that Pop.

I didn't even realize until recently that Scooby and Shaggy shot up in price. I had the sudden nostalgic fueled urge to buy them, but then I saw they're higher than retail. Not by much, thankfully -- but I'm gonna wait just a little bit longer to get them, which could turn out to be a mistake.

I really like the Shaggy Pop! in particular, but you can't have Shaggy without his pal Scooby. That's borderline criminal. lol

I’m not entirely sure myself but based on some patterns it’s mostly based on the popularity of the specific character/line
