It seems that many people are wanting classic Who and I’m wondering why Funko haven’t really touched (much) on it?

Wonder if it’s a licensing issue, more than a popularity thing?

If there is one thing I have learned from SDCC Doctor Who POPs. Dont hesitate or sleep on them or you will regret the secondary market prices.

So true! I tend to overthink about a purchase and when I finally decide to get it, it's gone. Isn't that always the way? You'd think I'd learn from it.

Guarantee it's a licensing issue. I follow Doctor Who: Legacy, which is a match-3 game for Doctor Who with a really interesting story mode (check it out! Lots of free content and the paid stuff is purely bonus! It is a legitimate free-to-play game with loads of offline content) and they've been trying to add loads of Classic Who content but have run into issues with licensing, like how they had to find a workaround for the Great Intelligence to appear in the game.

I have talked to various people at different companies who have tried to produce Dr. Who trading cards over many years, and it's always licensing issues.

We are getting a Pting at SDCC. I wasn't actually a fan of that episode, but I will definitely get him for the collection.
Please Funko make Taylor Swift Pops!

Exactly my thinking.

Instead of an iconic character, we get a cross between a Slitheen and an Adipose, from an episode that was “meh” at best.

I will still get it though lol

Of all of the aliens and creatures in the show a Pting wouldn't be in my top 20 of choices, BUT I will do my best to get it, because I need all the DW pops. I just wish there was a few more. I feel like we need another small wave, 3-5 pops at most, giving us more Doctors, if nothing else.

Not super excited about the Pting but am definitely going to get it to add to the collection. Bottom line I am glad that Doctor Who is still on Funko's plate. Ready to see more for years to come.
Love to Collect the 80s stuff. Also chasing the OG Rocky Set. First Funko Purchase was 2012 SDCC.

Guess it is a consensus by DW fans. We question the choice with better options but of course we will grab it to support the line and prove there is still a market.

I actually thought the episode was one of the better of the season. It felt more like the usual Who than the new vibe they gave it this season...

I still feel betrayed by Funko because of the apparent lie they told us about the 13th coat being a FTM. [-(

Still feel betrayed by the lie avout 13th too xD I would have got it before it went that expensive if they had stopped giving us false hopes x)
Anyway, I still wonder who chooses the characters to make into Pops.. xD I haven't seen a soul claiming for a Pting but well.. at least the line continues x)
Sorry for my mistakes , I'm French :-)

it is a shame really I just do not see us getting anymore classic stuff with the way this line as been going. An exclusive here and there, a small drop and such. I think the Pting is a interesting choice. Who ever designed it or pitched it must have really loved it. I also trying to get in Funko's mindset maybe say to themselves if this random creature sells well maybe the line and sales can handle some others.

I thought for sure the excitement for the 1st Doctor would make Funko realize that we needed the rest of the Doctors asap. I'm going to lose my mind if we only get a DW pop once or twice a year...I know the big waves don't sell well, but I can't believe a smaller wave wouldn't.

Also bummed we didn't get the 13th Doctor in her coat as a regular release, I thought we would. Just another along with 12 in the space suit I'll never own. :(

I still don't understand why the coat-less Thirteenth Doctor wasn't the convention exclusive. That is the variant. The "regular" coated version should be a regular release, because that's the Doctor's basic costume.

My Instagram account is named after Yoda’s line from The Empire Strikes Back; while licensed merch is just so much plastic, it also represents something more.

Anyway, I still wonder who chooses the characters to make into Pops.. xD I haven't seen a soul claiming for a Pting but well.. at least the line continues x)

You and me both... and I was there at SDCC and I thought, I'm good with the regular package later. ;(

Like most of you when I saw we were getting the Pitng I was a little let down. I could have named dozens of characters I'd rather have before that guy. But still I'm happy to see that we're still getting Doctor Who Pops.
Let's see a fan wanted companion or alien at NYCC.

Very much the case for me.

I know it’s been said a million times (usually in this thread), but so much classic stuff, still to be done

it is a shame really I just do not see us getting anymore classic stuff with the way this line as been going. An exclusive here and there, a small drop and such. I think the Pting is a interesting choice. Who ever designed it or pitched it must have really loved it. I also trying to get in Funko's mindset maybe say to themselves if this random creature sells well maybe the line and sales can handle some others.

Since I’m old, I grew up watching the Tom Baker years, but Jon Pertwee will always be my favourite...followed closely by Peter Davidson.

I’d love The Master (sorry, Missy doesn’t count to me), or Chameleon...or a few variations of Cybermen

I guess if I have to wait for SDCC or NYCC for new stuff, then I will.

I’m just glad they haven’t totally abandoned the line
I used to be a werewolf, but I’m alright nooooooooooow :cat:
