Termite warning.....they ate our pops....

So today was the day i got to see the damage to the collection cause by termites... so sad... here are a few before and after picks... so beware of these evil little buggers. note this was after putting an expensive barrier treatment around our house last year.

Had hemidell for around 7 weeks when they were noticed so somewhere around that time frame.

Wow indeed!! What happened to the pops is sad, but pales in comparison to what this bastards can do to your house so hopefully you are all good there.

I hope you are able to rebuild your collection with some replacement boxes.

OMG! The horror! That looks awful!

The one thing I keep worrying about is bed bugs. We had them 4 years ago but it was before we started collecting Pops. I worry that if we get them again and the house has to be heat-treated, all our Pops will melt.

Incredible. Hadn't thought so much about this particular situation. A big consideration not just for display, but for storing or rotating Pops! WOW!!! That's incredible damage! Hadn't noticed if any one has already made the comment, but one more argument for Pop! protectors. Seems like they should help. Maybe they were used and didn't help. At any rate, really sorry for your losses

Oh wow, really sorry you had that happen Nicole!!

I'm sure a lot of people reading this are freaking out right now thinking termites might already be in their collection. Termites need moist dirt to live in, they migrate into wood to feed. They will eat paper because of the cellulose content, but they prefer wood. Usually when they start eating paper it's because it is up against wood that they have already infested (as looks to be the case here as well based on the pictures showing the raw wood studs that were placed along the wall with Pops stored against them). Sometimes they will eat the paper facing in drywall as well, and if there are stacks of boxes, books (or Pops) up against the drywall they might start eating that as well. The safest bet is to leave an air space space between your Pops and the wall, don't stack them right against the wall. Even if it's just 1/2" or so that is likely enough to keep them from ever migrating into your Pops. Also it's a good idea not to put them directly on the floor, not just because of termites but also to keep them dry in case something spills, or to keep them from damage from vacuum cleaners and such.

We only got hemidell about 7 weeks begore we found them so somewhere in between there...

Thanks everyone... as bad as it is it could have been alot lot worse. Only 15 damaged. They came in from the roof eating the cardboard between paint and dry wall on the cornence and down the timber support board.
funatic community over here have been amazing so far i have been able to replace or replace box of lagertha ragnar hemidell bender cthulhu Kratos.
Also thank you to people pms offering help to keep and eye out for the others for me
