Hello, everyone! Welcome to the POP! Monsters thread!
I'm going to try my best and keep this thread updated on all things POP! Monsters and the other creatures and doohickeys of Wetmore Forest.

I like the original characters and I hope they make them. The First original Funko character I bought was the amazing Carlos from Funko-Shop from last year's SDCC. Once I open the box and saw it I immediately needed to get the rest of the set. Their is something about that huge tongue sticking out that makes the pop that much better. I will admit they are not for everyone but I enjoy the Funko original stuff.

I'm slightly scared that I'm going to love all the characters, but can't wait to see what they come up with!

Not gonna lie, first time I saw this post, I had hoped they would be mythical monsters, like Bigfoot, Chupacapra, and Loch Ness. This sounds cool too, though.

Classier do you want to change the thread title to New Funko Original Characters or something like that?

I believe Reis hinted that some mythological characters may appear. I will change the thread title to clear up confusion. I was just using the title they had used at the panel last night.

OH MAN!!!!!! That would be sweet! We just had a thread going a couple of weeks ago about this very subject and expressing hope that Funko would do this some day. The Funko original designs borrowed heavily from the "Kustom Kulture" aesthetic of the 1960's and 70's that Ed Roth, Sonny DePalma, Dave Deal, George Trosley and other automotive artists made popular. Most of these icons have since passed away, so I really hope Funko adds their spin to the mix to keep this design style alive. I grew up around that artwork in magazines, car models and trading cards and it is near and dear to my heart!

As a side note to Funko- talk about a line that was made for themed hot rods as Pop Rides or Dorbz Ridez :-D

Of all the Funko news we've heard starting with the 12 days last Christmas until now, this is by far the most exciting for me personally :freddy2:

As much as I still want a Westernized "Mythical Creatures and Legends" line, I'm really excited to see what sort of designs Funko comes up with for this. I started seriously collecting Pops because of how great their monster designs looked (Jason, Freddy, and the Walking Dead walkers simply had better and more detailed molds that really caught my eye, and said molds have only gotten more incredible with the likes of the Demeantor and Demogorgon).

I've always been a collector that strictly focuses on characters important to me or my childhood (which is why I've been passionately collecting since 2012, and only have just over 200 Pops), so I'm not sure how I'll feel collecting Pops based on original characters and strictly based on how they look. But, hey, if you make the lore and the designs interesting ENOUGH, I very well may be in on this.

This sounds really cool. Maybe they will do some of the monsters like the Mad Monster Party Spastiks. It would be great to see some based on mythological creatures. I can't wait to see what Funko comes up with.

I was hoping to someday get some Harryhausen based Pops like Sinbad and Jason monsters and Clash of the Titans (6" Kraken!) but I will fully support anything with "monsters" in it whether they are mythological beasts or cryptids.

Somebody brought that up in the Q&A, and they said that it will most likely happen.

This was one of the first questions I thought also; so glad to hear it'll probably happen. Monsters are awesome and it'll be cool to see what they come up with.

This is awesome news! I was looking into spastiks a few months back and I love the character designs. You can really tell that they all have their own interesting back story to tell and their own personalities. We know who characters are in Pop form now because we know the characters or can easily look them up. But with new original characters it will be so great to learn more about them!

Sounds like a great opportunity for the Funko designers to really let their creativity run wild. Considering the great job that they do with the licensed product I am really anxious to see what they come up with.
