It was tied to Mattel pulling in the license with their own new "Origins" 5.5 inch figure line launching next year..
and the new series and movie coming.

It seems that everything except the 1/6th scale stuff from Mondo, which is fantastic, has been put on hold...including Funko obviously.

But maybe just temporarily? We've already seen those Soda figures are on the way... so... I guess we'll see what the new year brings!

I think it's scale? Mondo is making the large figures, ~12 inch...and those are still going. But anything smaller like the 6 inch MOTU Classics, Super 7's retro figures, or Pops...all on hiatus... maybe. For now?

If these new ones are actually coming soon, then maybe it had been a temporary stop until Mattel renewed the license as part of their plans going forward. Cogs and wheels... wheels and cogs!

Freddy as "The Merman" definitely showed they didn't have the rights to use the MOTU brand at some point... :-k

MOSQUITOR! Pixel Dan is going to LOVE that one!! Hopefully they will replicate the flowing blood action in some way. At least translucent window with translucent red plastic inside.

If that list is accurate I can see Mosquitor for sure having his blood gimmick put into the pop version.

This is great news. I'm hoping they eventually re-release the older lines as well as there is clearly a demand for them given the prices on eBay.

A Pop Town Castle Grayskull would be great as well. It doesn't need to be to scale.

So happy to hear this rumor, but are we honestly going to go another wave without Teela??? Cmon!!!! She is integral. I’d love to see her in 2 versions: w/ Cobra Armor like the toy and without, like the cartoon. Don’t make us wait any longer, Funko!

A lot of rumor swirled around Savage Worlds king the culprit but beems like almost all of the MOTU licensed figure products went into a limbo state earlier this year. Funko, The Loyal Subjects, Super7... hopefully this was just a "reorganization" move on Mattel's end. Curious with the new batch of rumors going around that the MOTU film may be going to Netflix that if maybe Mattel culled everything back in only to loosen back up now tat the movie's future seems a lot less certain.

Now that's a tricky question...we never officially knew if the license was lost (all a rumor) and the latest wave is still an unconfirmed rumor.

Was there ever an issue?
Was the license ever lost?
Was Funko just working it out with Mattel the whole time?
Were the Soda figures approved before something happened?

We may never know! And until new Pop figures come out, we still don't...
