Real vs Fake Grey Wind
Just recently decided that I would like to purchase the GOT Grey Wind but have noticed that a lot of people are selling a fake copy of it. Do you guys have pictures on how to identify a real vs a fake Grey Wind? I don’t want to get scammed Thank you!!

Re: Real vs Fake Grey Wind
I know on eBay they recently started selling them from China for like $25 or so. I’m looking to buy one locally but I just want to be sure it’s real.

You say people are selling fake Grey Wind pops, how do you know they’re fake? There was also a similar thread the other day.

Re: Real vs Fake Grey Wind
It looks like the fake Grey Winds have orange eyes compared to the pale yellow of the legit ones. I'm sure there's other signs too.
There seems to be a serious influx of fake, rare and expensive Pops on Ebay lately. SDCC unmasked Jason is one of the newer ones. I see pre-orders for "China versions" of GOT Ygritte and Renly on there too. It's definitely the worst it's ever been.

It seems so strange to me that Funko doesn't try to take those down. It's as easy as getting someone verified from Funko and then they can just click a link to get each listing removed. I know it'd be another tedious job for someone but reducing the number of fake listings would be really nice imho...

There's always gonna be other ways to sell fake pops and it's not so easy to figure out which ones are fake since scammers can just use real photos, so it's pretty pointless for Funko to try and step in.
The counterfeit Funko market is always going to be a thing and the only way to get rid of it (or reduce sales) is if Funko reduced the value of their own products, which is never going to happen.
Will Funko make Earthbound pops before Nintendo releases Mother 3?

It’s so sad to see this. Not only that, but other people are looking to sell these fake pops and claim they are real. I’ve seen one selling in OfferUp and I called him out.

Well on eBay it will say that it comes directly from China. Some of them do look completely fake once you see them but others look so good that you don’t even realize it’s fake.

Definitely ruins it for others, but it is good to get the research in. I'm just glad the community is always willing to help with spotting them.

That sounds real sketchy
Re: Real vs Fake Grey Wind
As someone who nearly fell victim to an expensive fake (yikes), I advise looking at the righthand side of the box with the large "Grey Wind" lettering. The fakes use a much wider font and the "G" does not have a little tail at the bottom, like the original does. In addition, the numbering on the fake looks significantly different on that side of the box. The real product has thick, but narrow numbering, while the fake has a basic, thinner sans serif--be warned, it will look different than on the front of the box!
It's all about typeface. If the seller does not show a photo of the right side of the box, I would be skeptical. Hope this helps everyone out. Be careful out there!

Wanted to see if the OfferUp app had any on there, there's 1 for $30 and 1 for $305. So yeah, be very careful about fakes out there. The pictures look identical.

Re: Real vs Fake Grey Wind
Wowzas...didn't even know a KO Grey Wind existed. Makes me want to go back and check to see if mine's is the right one since I bought mine from eBay like 4 years ago @__@ Hopefully it isn't since I bought it with a GoT lot.

I got a fake Jon Snow on Throne unfortunately. The head of the pop was squishy. Maybe you can use that to help your assessment?

there are so many fakes now, the early ones were easier to spot but it's getting pretty bad on Ebay now.

Yeah I've started to see them on eBay. You know some moron will buy one and try to sell it off as a genuine pop at the current value

Unfortunately following that rule doesn’t guarantee you’re not buying a fake anymore. North American customers are buying fakes from China and selling them on Ebay as authentic. I’ve seen countless sold and listed auctions where sellers flat out lie. It’s nauseating.

Fakes are definitely running rampant both on low and high value pops. I am glad the original poster is willing to do their due diligence though. There are even fake mindstyle pops which is kinda ironic .

Re: Real vs Fake Grey Wind
First rule is to stay off items from China.
Second, always check the item description. Sometimes they actually do declare that it is counterfeit on the description.
Third, if it's too good to be true, most of the time it's not real.
