Keanu Reeves is actually an insane 3 gunner/competition shooter. Theres a video of him working with Taran Tactical on youtube. If you havn't seen it, check it out. Those are legit skills, and the firearms used in this movie (obviously are props in the movie) are made by some high end aftermarket companies and not the usual painted toys that float around in other movies.
They clearly take it seriously, it's nice we haven't heard of any reports about accidents on set.
I'd be surprised if live ammunition was even allowed anywhere near the set. But even with blanks there can be issues, that's a lot of air moving at a very quick speed.
