The original Dune is a classic. We all know how remakes turn out 95% of the time.... [-X

Sorry, can't agree with you fully on this. Dune is a classic as a David Lynch movie. It isn't a great telling of the story though. After seeing what Denis Villeneuve made with Blade Runner 2049, he can do magic anywhere.

I can agree that sometimes a remake can make the original worse but like I said sometimes. We’ll just have to wait and see how the remake will do. Who’s knows we might all get blown away on how good it’s remade.

This is great news! I was waiting on NYCC Feyd to get to EE's Amazon shop. Now I might just wait for these instead.
Or did you think I'd be too stupid to know what a eugoogoly was?

I really need to go back and watch this film. I don’t remember anything about this film. Maybe the I’ll get more excited about these pops. Is it worth watching this film. The original one that is ?

The Dune films have been kinda MEH...the Dune SERIES OF BOOKS however is AMAZING...none of the films have gone past the second book and there are 6 or 7 including the posthumous one his son finished. Forget the movie go read the book. I challenge anyone to name a better sci fi book the the first book in this series

Well I still think Stranger in a Strange Land is the best Sci Fi book that I've ever read (Blood Meridian best book ever). Dune is probably #2 sci-fi/fantasy but then I don't consider Dune to be sci-fi, it is science fantasy to me. Heinlein's books are pure Sci Fi.

Blade Runner 2049 is a sequel, not a remake. Big difference.

Didn’t say it was a remake but thanks for the correction.

Denis is not going to screw it up. If you love the Dune movie because of the Lynchian feel then I’ll give you a cookie. That will be lost because Denis won’t ape Lynch.

Don't get me wrong, I'm hoping for a good remake as well. The cast for it looks damn good!

I have to check that out, thanks for mentioning it. I don't know what "pure" sci-fi means but at the end of the day lest we forget Dune is totally about a planet they terraformed a few times over & the underlying theme is all about ecology so I think that's as science as it gets...I think the fact that there are princesses & "witches" & kings and queens involved shouldn't distract from that...Herbert wrote it in part because of his interest in ecosystems ;-)
