Honestly, I was trying to find something to watch on Netflix and came across Witcher without any notion of the storyline and who was in it. First time I saw Geralt, I thought who is that actor? He sure looks like Superman

How close to the books and game is the Show?

The showrunner has made it very clear that she is adapting the books ONLY. Im sure playing the game will help one understand some names/places though.
From what im reading on social media, there are some key moments that were left out or differ. But some of that should be expected due to time constraints. A real hot topic right now seems to be Brokilon Forest.

Thanks for the response. I had played one of the games a few years back but never read the books. I was only able to watch the first episode yesterday and am looking forward to the rest of the episodes.

Do you need knowledge of the game to follow the show?
Show is an adaptation of the books so no you dont need the game. But, it would help with some things, surely.

Or how about the many times he just stares at someone and says f**k with frustration,

The only time this happens that matters to me is during the law of surprise episode. That moment shook me to my core

For anyone who hasn't played the games and hasn't, just be careful because certain things in the game can spoil whats to come that has not occurred yet

So if u want to get ahead and know more about the story I guess I should play the games. I think there’s 3 of them?
