Pokemon!

Postby Boba Jones » Mon Jul 20, 2020 6:43 pm

I know there are some into the Pokemon line like I am, so many choices of Pokemon to choose from. I myself want Funko to begin making their evolved forms. Do you think this line will just end with the first 150 (with the exception of Pichu) or think we will see a plethora of Pokemon over the next few years?

My favorite would be Nine tails [-o<

I would hope we get evolved forms. I think a 10 inch Charizard, Venusaur, and Blastoise pops for sure. Those would be awesome.

Honestly I'm kind of annoyed that we keep getting flocked variants rather than GITD or even Metallic (in place of Shiny variants). A lot of us wanted this line to be a thing, and now it may become the most expensive line to collect with that amount of variants (recycled or not) they will come out with.

I gave up on the 10" Pops after I got the starters. Dragonite and Raichu is all I need.

Pokémon players, myself included, love shiny Pokémon. I really hope that we get them in the future. I would love a shiny Charizard Pop!

I'm waiting to see those glow variants come out in the future, some "shiny" ones are bound to happen also.

I was thinking the same thing! Chase variants are perfect with Pokémon with the shiny versions of themselves. But they went flocked. And on a lot of them.

I would like to see shiny Pokémon in the future, and I would not be upset if they were chase variants either, just makes sense to me.

As for metallic and GITD, maybe on certain Pokémon, i.e. rock type, electric (would love a GITD pikachu lol)

I've grown to be thankful they've flocked pokemon that I consider to not have fur. It means I own ZERO flocked pokemon and so the entire 4" line still fits in one Michael's baseball case.

I'm a fan of the oversized pops. I know we won't see the original 151 all oversized, that's a lot to hope for but would be really great.

I honestly think it depends on the popularity IMO, But Pokémon tends to do very well so
I can see it surpassing the 150 you mentioned. lol

I can’t wait for the flocked ground type Pokémon lol I knew this line was going to be out of control so I’ve been pretty selective.

If it stops after the original 150 it’s a serious missed opportunity. Would love to see the middle evolution stages be 6” pops, and final forms be 10” pops. Really need a 6” Snorlax

I’m not really a Pokemon fan anymore, but I grew up when Pokemon became a big thing in America back in the ‘90s and I still have a bunch of trading cards stored away from then. So I have sort of a nostalgia for some of the early Pokemon. Still, the only one I’m interested in actually buying a pop of is Vaporeon, because that was always my favorite one. Mew and Ditto were my lesser favorites.

I think the line will keep going for a very long time and cover both the early and later Pokemon. I wouldn't be surprised if they made multiple versions of the more popular ones like Pikachu.

Would we consider these diamond editions as "shiny" versions? Or what could those be? Chrome/metallic doesn't seem to fit as close as diamond could be.

Shiny is different color from the original color of the Pokemon.

And some shiny versions that are only slightly different in color from the original/regular version, but still different that the diamond editions wouldn't be considered shiny. Here's an example of the Eevee and Eevee-lutions, from Polygon.com.

From what I've noticed, UK retailers have been selling Pokemon Pops from the start of this year. I was thinking yes finally! And when Funko Europe listed the Funkon diamond exclusive pops on their site I thought from here on in, we will be getting the releases at the same time as the US. However, when the next wave of Pokemon Pops were announced last month (The one with Dragonite etc.) they were never advertised or listed on Funko Europe, just on the US website and US retailers to my disappointment.

So I've gathered the Pokemon deal between Funko & Europe only includes versions/variants of the 4 starter Pokemon. For now anyway. So looks as though I'll have to keep buying the newer pokemon pops from abroad unfortunately.
