Return to Oz Pops?

Postby billville » Thu Aug 27, 2020 7:29 pm

I absolutely loved this movie as a kid. Brings back such fond memories and has the best characters! This would be an awesome addition to the wizard of oz pops. So many possibilities...the wheelers, tick-tock, the gump, Jack, the nome king.

who would he come with as his rider? i'd think maybe Tiktok as he's smallest next to Dorothy, and she seems like she'd come with Belina instead.

It would either have to be TiK-Tok or Jack trying to hold himself together as they flew on it :freddy2:

Jack Pumpkinhead would be such an amazing looking POP. Funko does lots of cool more obscure stuff like this so I would hope they are made in the future! The Anchorman set being SDCC exclusives shows that Funko is willing to do whole sets for cons, I could see the same happen here

They really would make great Pops and I hope they are able to be made in some variety even if commons.

Certainly the darker side in that movie, many great variants could be done with that.

I don't even recall seeing much merchandise from the movie. Probably since it was a lesser known Oz movie.

Very little was released in the states. Some puzzles, some handpuppets, a boardgame, some books. Japan sold a terrific series of 4 action figures and a set of larger stuffed animals but all disappeared within a month of release and now command BIG bucks when they surface. This was when Michael Eisner became CEO and if he wasn't the one to have green-lighted the project, it was scrapped pretty quickly. Since RTO and Black Cauldron were released at the same time, both quite dark, and Eisner didn't have his hand in either, both films received no support and disappeared. Funko recently released Black Cauldron POPs so I'm still hoping for RTO.

Great info, thanks! I personally think they would do a new wave of the old musical before they would do RTO, but one could only hope otherwise!

I would love if these were made. Can have stone chases for the Lion and the Tin Man and an emerald Green version of the Scarecrow. Question: if they made a Wheeler into a Pop, would it be considered a Pop Ride? lol

I would love to see the stone chases and the Emerald Scarecrow. That would be awesome! =D> And the Wheelers could be a Pop Ride? :-k But I can also see them as a standard Pop like Stanley from the Five Nights at Freddy's line.
