35th Mario Anniversary Pops

Postby GuruGuy128 » Fri Sep 04, 2020 12:02 am

Well after seeing the line of Mario Merchandise from the Direct, I hope that this opens the door for some Funkos.

The Mario kart live racing figure is basically what I had envisioned for a mario kart ride...the dream continues I guess

I think you have a better chance at winning the lottery than seeing these release. Nintendo license is pretty much impossible.

I was 100% sure that they were going to show Pops at the end of the Direct when they started showing merchandise.

It'd be so cool but after seeing what LEGO had to do to get the license, I don't think Nintendo Funkos would be as simple as a simple figure. It would probably have some electronic component to it

I can’t wait to actually check out the Mario Kart ride that’s supposed to be AR like this, they already have it built in Japan

I don’t think it’s impossible, I even think there was a recent leak of a Mario pop concept, not 100% sure if it was legit though. Nintendo is working with Hot Wheels and LEGO now, which no one thought would happen over a year ago. Nintendo even publicly stated that they are expanding their licenses into other business opportunities, and then later we get an awesome NES LEGO set...I’m a Nintendo fanboy too. lol

I’m still confident a Mario pop is happening, however I wonder if they’ll start with just Mario? Or, will they go all in on an entire wave of Nintendo IP (ex: Zelda, Donkey Kong, Metroid, Kid Icarus, etc...)

The common theme I'm seeing with the recent releases of LEGO and Hot Wheels is the fact there is some sort of interaction involved with the toy, or the ability to have a functioning playset. Maybe since Funkos are widely viewed as a collectible figure, it strays from their vision of being able to play with them, and that they will need to incorporate some interaction with it.

Just a thought.

Valid point, that could be the case...however, they could make them function like Amiibos.
