SDCC exclusives

Let's talk about Funko and Super 7's great line of ReAction and Legacy action figures. They don't bobble or pop, but they thrill in their own fun way.

Ah yes! I remember thinking, I could buy a loose original version for less than that.

But the glow kinda makes me rethink it....gah!

Any word on the production number on the glow?

It's going to the same fisaco as last year with the Prototype 2-pack. They'll be gone on Preview night within 2 hours tops, I'm guessing the eggs will be gone on Preview night as well since they're allowing 4 per person.

Guessing the eggs will last through Thursday if the limit is so high. Hopefully.

Dang, that playset is cool, but I'm not spending $100 for it. The alien egg blind figures sound exceptional, especially if I could get a LE Alien figure. Not sure if I'll be able to get any of them at a good price though. I also love the 24" Alien, but $500 is too rich for my blood.

I've noticed Gentle Giant "exclusives" are often very easy to find after the show. The Reaction figures I predict will be the opposite.

Thinking the same. Even with a prod numebr of 2000-2500 that is pretty low in the action figure world

Hey gang, we've been seeing a little confusion lately on the ReAction line, so I thought I'd chime in to help clear some things up.

First off, we're doing quite a bit more than just distributing these figures. Last year, when Super 7 realized that this was a bigger monster than they were prepared to handle, we here at Funko took it over so that we could put the full force of our design power, financing, array of licenses, distribution and retail outlets behind the line.

Since then, we've spent the last 11 months designing the figures (over 60!), designing the packaging, sculpting the figures and working with licensors and retail outlets to make this line take off. That included finalizing the Alien figures that Super 7 had started with.

A massive amount of hard work and passion for vintage figures has gone into this on our end and I can't even begin to tell you how excited we are to see these figures finally coming to life!

As far as Super 7's booth goes, they have moved down a few rows in order to get a larger space, so they're no longer directly next to us, but they'll still be pretty close by.

The only reason I'm bringing all of this up is to help everyone understand the budding ReAction line better, and to tip my hat to the hard working and brilliant Funko designers, sculptors, art directors and production team that have kept their excitement for this line going strong for the past 11 months and never wavering in their drive to make this line reach the levels of greatness that Funko collectors and action figure fans deserve.

Just you all wait and see what amazing ReAction figures we have in store for you at SDCC and beyond!

That said, how much did Funko have to do with the design and production of the exclusive Alien play?

Okay! Okay! ;)

The only thing we did on the play set was sculpt the base, everything other aspect of production was handled by Super 7. This was their baby!

Hahahaha! That's funny because kids are playing with a play set from an R rated movie! Misaimed Marketing, anyone? If there were a The Rocky Horror Picture Show (one of the sets of figures being released in 2015) play set of Frank N Furter's castle and there were kids on the packaging, that would be hilarious!

I think you're missing the deliberate irony. This product isn't being marketed to kids, it's being marketed to adults who want to remember what it was like when they were kids.

And let's not forget that there were actual toys for kids from this movie back in 1979 (even jigsaw puzzles), so this isn't really all that far from the truth.

They should definitely get the same kids back for RHPS... and also have a worried-looking parent in the background! I'd buy several if they did that. :) :D

There used to be huge toy lines for R-rated movies mass marketed to kids all the time back in the 1980s and 1990s. I used to have quite a few figures for Aliens, Robocop and Terminator 2 when I was a kid and I'm sure there were a lot of other movies I am forgetting at the moment.

The ALIEN play set will now be available to pre-order for everyone who wants one!

http://forum.rebelscum.com/t1105598-47/#post19427518

It may still be resin, but if they get enough orders it'll be plastic.
Price is $100.

Very cool that they are doing this, though.

Wow, really great that they listened to the fans and found a way to do this!! The price is still high but it is such a cool piece that I will probably pull the trigger on it. My to-buy list for this year's SDCC is quite short actually so I think I have room in the budget for one... just too cool to pass up I think!

S7 is doing a smart thing by opening it to the public. That being said, I think I'm still going to pass. I love the concept and execution but it's just not worth $115 to me.

Hopefully they'll find a way to let people who come to the booth place an order to. I trust they'll be able to get a WiFi signal for that reason..

Wifi sucks at the con, they did this last year, you could order the early bird set, and it's what slowed down the line, I was only 40ish people back when the doors opened and it took 2 hours for me to get to the cash wrap. They gave up and went to paper.
