Legacy and ReAction Video Game Figures

Let's talk about Funko and Super 7's great line of ReAction and Legacy action figures. They don't bobble or pop, but they thrill in their own fun way.

Legacy and ReAction Video Game Figures

Postby BigDangHero » Wed Dec 11, 2013 7:42 pm

There has been a lot of debate about the many movie and TV franchises that could potentially be made into Legacy and ReAction figures, but it seems that we have largely forgotten about another form of media that could inspire numerous figures: video games !

Funko has produced POP! figures of characters from franchises like Halo, Mass Effect, WoW, and Diablo, so it would make sense for them to integrate video game characters into these upcoming lines as well.

I, as a huge fan of fighting games, would love to see characters from ANY Capcom fighting game, especially since SOTA is no longer making those great Street Fighter figures. I'd especially love to see figures from Capcom's Darkstalkers. NECA did a mediocre job with their SF IV figures, so hopefully they no longer have the license, which would allow Funko to pick it up.

I'd also love to see figures from other fighting franchises like Tekken, Dead or Alive, and Soul Calibur, but I doubt that these would be able to sell quite as well as Street Fighter figures though.

Any thoughts on what other game franchises would translate well into these lines ?

I'd be down with a proper 3-3/4 Warcraft line.

I agree. WarCraft would be awesome. I wish Hasbro would do something with their Dungeons and Dragons license too.

I'd say Pokemon, but I don't think they would translate well.

I had the Epoch Legend of Zelda figures back in the day. The set of 4 of Link, Deku Link, Goron Link, and Zora Link. I put them in storage for YEARS (and poorly to boot), forgetting about them. So, while I was trying to earn a little extra dough, I put them up on Ebay. Complete, but loose, and some had a few scuffs on them.

They sold for close to a grand. 4 figures, loose, with scuffs.

The market and desire for Zelda toys is out there.

Mario AND COD have had figures.

Mario by Toy Biz, Joyride, and most recently, "Global Holdings". And if you want to include the movie, (but really, who does?) Ertl. But they haven't been very all-encompassing. Mainly the major characters. I would LOVE an all-out Mario Bros line. Variants of Mario in his Super Maris Bros 3 suits-Raccoon Mario, Frog Mario, etc.

And McFarlane released some CoD figures a few years ago. There's some block figure sets out now, too.

I think Plan-B did some Call of Duty figures as well, though that may only have been for WWII.

You know I recently asked Naughty Dog during an AMA on reddit about possibly start licensing their properties out for figures since there're not any figures out there.

They responded that they are looking into more licensing for merchandise such as figures....so, Uncharted, Last of Us....

Hmmm......

I understand that. I was answering the OP's question ;-)

I don't really follow video games so I have no idea who brain could be referring to.

Still hoping for Doom.

Nintendo has grown more and more strict with who they license to--specifically to Western companies. NECA has been trying for years to get the Nintendo license, only to be shot down repeatedly.

I had no idea Nintendo was that lame. That's really too bad. Link would have looked especially cute as a Pop.

Zelda would be THE BEST. But as mentioned, it will probably not happen. I would love ReAction figures of Zelda. A little 3.75" Link with sword and shield, and a Zelda with a piece of the Tri-Force. It would all be soooo cool.

Other games that would be cool in ReAction or Legacy would be

Assassins Creed
Tomb Raider
Double Dragon
Halo
Resident Evil
Dead Rising
Battle Toads
Castlevania

But, much like Zelda, I don't know how easy it would be to obtain rights to any of those games
