Super 7 Reaction SDCC

Let's talk about Funko and Super 7's great line of ReAction and Legacy action figures. They don't bobble or pop, but they thrill in their own fun way.

Wow. And I thought people at this company had brains. What's the purpose or logic in such an insanely low production run on the playset?

wow I can't believe the egg chamber will be a run of 250!!! That seems so... dumb! I would definitely buy one in a store or online for around $50 but the post-SDCC mark ups are going to be too insane to even consider a purchase. It's a shame, it looks like a cool piece. The only thing I can think of is maybe there will be a slightly modified retail version down the road? One can hope!

It was the thought of being able to have access to cool simple playsets that reeled me in. Every fan of Alien wants to be able to recreate that iconic scene where we get our first encounter with the Xenomorph Egg. That and when Ripley first meets the Alien Queen are what's permanently etched into my memories. It's not looking likely that Reaction figures will be where all us fans will be revisiting that. How much is Neca's Alien Queen priced? Looks like my money will be going there.

Waiting eagerly for Bloody Butch pop! & Vincent/Jules! I might have to expand my funko horizons to include these SDCC reaction figures. Are there going to be any GOT exclusives for Legacy?

I'm sure a lot of us are saying the same. Myself included.
I don't think Super7 understands how this whole exclusive thing works and I don't think they understand how many fans it's going to make very angry.

Yes and no. They are use to selling really limited vinyls so that part is nothing new for them. But when launching a new brand like this, you would think they would have made at least 500.

That's exactly my point. This is the action figure market. Totally different than the limited designer vinyl market. Action figure fans HATE exclusives that are impossible to get a hold of. I don't know why Super7 thinks it's a good idea to make such a limited exclusive.

Right, hopefully they don't lose a lot of fans along the way. This aggravates me a lot and I've seen multiple people on other forums say that they don't want to support a line or company that makes such stupid decisions.
TulaBug wrote:This is not just a Super 7 Figure, correct? This figure is both Super 7 and Funko???

Correct. I'm just guessing but it seems like Super7 has the molds and stuff and just provided them to Funko for production since Funko is the much bigger company with more resources/ability to produce more in quantity. I think Super7 is the one determining the size of the run on the figures and Funko is just producing them. Just speculation though.

Nothing kills a line quicker than producing extremely low production pieces, con exclusives or not, people will just walk away. Normally with figure collectors they want to stay complete on everything and when it gets to be too much frustration, they move on to something else.

I like the way that Brian came in there and said that he wasn't promising anything but it may be possible to get more of the Egg Chamber Sets out there at a later time. The Alien movie is so iconic to me that yes, I would certainly be willing to part with $100 to be able to recreate that scene with my collection. I don't know if I would spring for every playset in that price range but that Alien set I would. I'd also be willing to spend as much on a set that showcased the reveal of The Alien Queen in the sequel. I think for future playsets it would be cool of they could do sets that could be used with more than one license, for instance, a grave yard playset could be used for Universal Monsters, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Crow, etc, etc.

Good idea. I wonder if there'd be royalty issues to address, though, or whether "generic" would be widely acceptable to licensing interests..?

Interesting read, thanks.

From that thread, in response (presumably) to availability concerns, Mr Flynn has added the following today (8th):

Just a heads up for everyone, it looks like we will have some very good news to announce next week, but we have to make sure all our approvals are in place first. Stay positive, things are looking up!

Sooo...this line is becoming less and less interesting for me. These blind eggs don't even have painted figures. Just figures that are cast in clear or black translucent plastic. Seriously....this is so lame.

I've seen Alien, Kaine in Suit,Kane chestburster, Ripley, and Ripley in Suit so far on ebay and from videos. But all in the black/clear translucent plastic. And okay, the Kane chestburster sculpt looks cool but it's still not a painted figure so that's lame.

Here's a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eeg9SBuHOGg

I got mine just for the egg. I'm not crazy about "variant" figures specifically but if it's one of the Aliens I'll be happy to add it to my regular and SDCC blue carded clear.

I will say that I'm happy they did variants instead of full color exclusives.

A good friend picked me up a Alien Egg and the Superman Shirt Sloth. I considered the Pulp Fiction figures but have decided to collection only vintage properties in the ReAction line.
