Hikari Display and lighting

Postby Flynn47 » Thu Mar 26, 2015 8:02 am

Just wondering if anyone else ever read that upon their debut, Hikari actually came in a cylindrical box with a built in LED display base?

I'm also wondering if anyone has thought of or tried to display their Hikari using lighting? I think they would look amazing either in or out of box with a light-up-base.

Thoughts/opinions/ideas?

Found that on the Google machine, not sure if it is official or not but that is pretty much what hikari looked like at toy fair 2014. The button at the top was where the LED light was. Cool idea, but in guessing in order to keep costs down they choose to go for the box. They were never commercially released with LEDs.

Wouldn't be a bad idea to have some super premium Hikari in these boxes, better than bags lol

The built in LED was a cool idea but I'm glad they went away from the tube idea, we all know how much people love their boxes :)

I like that clearish but not glittery Leo. I agree about the bagged ones moving to these LED equipped tubes...although lines with tubes haven't done that well for Funko in the past...

Hey there Mr. Admin-man...you wouldn't be dissin' the Spastik line, would you?

Tubes are cool.

(Although they are pain in the a** to stack, the plastic was thin and brittle on some figures, and they're easy to damage. )

I'm glad they ditched the idea for the LED. Imagine an in box collector with a burnt out, or no-working light.

The box is mint, but defective....but to fix the light, he has to open the box, rendering it even less mint...but the value is in a working light so he has to fix the light...but then he ruins the value of the box because...and then he tosses himself out of a window.

I want to watch that melt down happen.

I am so glad they ditched the tube idea. I have a bunch of spastik with destroyed tubes.

Although I agree with you guys, it would have been appropriate to at least have the TMNTs go tubular.

Boxes with LEDs and a panel OUTSIDE the box to access and replace batteries? Fair solution?

Slap a low number on the outside of the box, I doubt many will be complaining about the tube when they get it.

Pardon my ignorance, but what are people referring to when they say 'bagged'?

I've only seen them packaged in the regular Hikari box and the toy fair tubes?

I like the idea of the LED tubes but as Stephe said, the lights burning out would be a problem.

The LED lighted tube was a cute idea, but also glad they skipped it. The tube made the piece look a bit cheaper as well (imo).

Here was a shot from last year's Toy Fair.

Japanese sofubi pieces usually come bagged. I kinda wish the Gigantors came bagged. That would be cool.
