premium vs normal?

Postby nicole1313 » Sun Mar 27, 2016 8:35 pm

so i think this was asked on another post but don't think a answer was reached?

just wanting to know what makes a premium and apart from colour type and word on box is there a reason why they are premium?
for instance the new ECCC one are all very limited but not all are premium?

Think there is another on-going thread about this as well, but as to the exact reasoning, I don't believe it has ever been officially specified. Typically the premium Hikari sells for $80 where as the non-premium Hikari's are usually $50-$60 in most cases. The only conclusion I've come up with is the molds are either made with or painted with more costly materials, or require additional paint layers to justify the cost. The new Box Lunch Jack Hikari's are both Premiums while the rest are not...but it is confusing as to what the specific difference between the amethyst and the blue glitter Jacks really is other than the color when looking at them, although one is premium and one is not :dontknow:

Not a lot of rhyme or reason to the designation thus far. It is a cost/pricing tool, evident by all of the Star Wars Hikari falling into the premium tier which my best guess would be that it is based on license cost.

Would like to see a better explanation of this as well. I assumed it was for the the paint app or the vinyl used.

I would like to see fewer 'premium' releases. 80 bucks is a hard on the wallet.

With the standard Hikari price point now dropped to the ~$50 ballpark, the $80 ones really do stand out like a sore thumb. And when there's no clear difference in their construction/quality to the consumer, it's definitely made me skip almost all $80 ones now.

All the TAGS say premium, but it's the GLAMS that sometimes have a premium label... it's really weird.

So who is going to ECCC panel? Sounds like the perfect question for the Q&A!

At first premium title was used for the 10 inch hikari like Spider-Man and Groot....but then that quickly went out the window.... The hikari logo was also a different color on the box.

Also "Premium Quality" is MINDstyle's sub brand for all their sofubi Funko or otherwise.

I wish MD or someone from MINDstyle was an member here or at least easier to get in contact with on social media.
