I'm afraid we won't see either. I expect some mini Freddy Hikari at Fundays but I feel like mass aidience that assositactes Funko with only the Pop line have spoken.

I feel like with all the great new Hikari releases lately (many of which are selling through completely) they haven't lost hope in Hikari just yet... I'm thinking perhaps we do get exclusives but just via Mindstyle instead of Funko? Last year they had at least 5 or 6 separate from Funko.

Be nice to see at least one from Funko directly though if all we get is Mindstyle than I am super cool with that. The Mindstyle stuff has been way easier to grab at the show directly and for reasonable prices on the secondary market.

We all know the chaos that is the Funko booth and even if they implement a new and improved ticket distribution system this year it's still going to be chaos.

They should at least do a few hikari, even if it's a small exclusive number like the 100 edition size that they did for eccc.

There are usually so many of those left over after every con...usually they just price em too damn high tbh... I like my hikari, but I wouldn't pay $80 for one...that being said I do like the Mindstyle kits they've done the last year or two...the starters were pretty cool.

I had really been looking forward to Hikari exclusives this year since this would have been the first SDCC since they started making Disney Hikari. Hopefully they just haven't been announced yet.

Yeah I definitely wouldn't mind a Disney hikari...I just don't like Comic Con hikari prices lol

If they do Hikari, they can do a run of 100 each. The ECCC ones sold near instantly every day, and the same would happen at SDCC.

Some of last years Hikaris are still up for sale at Funko shop, When these tings don't sell at the convention there tends to be a correction the next year. Hopefully Hikaris just see a reduction like the Reaction figures instead of an elimination like the Mystery Minis.

Which is a huge bummer because I would have certainly bought some last year when I was there. Instead at 3pm they had closed up the line and were saying "sold out" for the day despite them being clearly visible on the shelves. Just a bit frustrating to say the least, not to mention the very reason I quit collecting Pops.

Too many people whined last year  I agree that there doesn't need to be a hikari in almost every wave but come on ONE would have been nice! At least MINDstyle won't disappoint!

I don't mind there not being one at SDCC this year. It just means more money for Pops.

I wonder if the lackluster sales in the Funko-shop are a factor? The online exclusive Hikari are not exactly blowing out of there, wonder of that played any role in the no SDCC decision?

Doesn't help the Funko-shop was overloaded with Hikari at the premium price point either. I know if they ran a sale on some of those I would bite at a few...

This is exactly where I'm at with them. They reduced the standard price point for most to ~$50 but still have all the shop ones priced at $80 each. It's hard to convince myself to buy a Hikari at that price point now that most are $30 cheaper.

Now to see what Mindstyle delivers for Hikari this year.

Any word yet on the return of the Sparks Gallery or what "Funko South" may be?

Dying to know this as well...have been keeping an eye out but haven't heard anything. I suspect next week when Funko starts to lay out their booth policy etc, we'll start to get a more concrete idea about any events outside the convention center.

Last I heard they were looking for a space to hold the event. Not sure if it will be back at the Sparks Gallery or not.

I heard the opposite on there being a pop-up Mindstyle store this year. I also heard Funko South has some tie to Mike Becker. But who knows for sure?

Funko South is the California branch of funko. That is where the shirts get designed. Not really sure what else they do there. Mike Becker runs this branch.
