Recommendations for a Newb

Postby ScarletFunko » Fri Aug 05, 2016 11:43 am

For all you Hikari fans out there I was wondering if I could get a little help. When I display stuff I usually like to have 3-4 of the same kind of product. Right now I have two, Fort Knox Cap and Metalflake Iron Man, so I am looking to pick up at least one more to go in a display with them. So for those of you that either have some or simply admire them but don't collect I'd like to hear your recommendations for which one(s) I should consider getting. And it doesn't need to by marvel either. So far here are a few I've kinda been looking at.....

-Classic Deadpool
-Infared Boba Fett
-626 Stitch
-Groot
-ASM2 Glitter Spider-Man
-Black Suit Spider-Man
-Hologram Vader

Thanks for any help in advance :) :freddy2:

The original Hologram Vader is still one of my favorites, great looking piece. Deadpool is a nice looking piece. With the 2 you have, the green glitter Hulk would look really sharp next to them. Spider-Man is nice but he's also one of the original HIkari and is a larger scale than most others. He is as tall as Groot is.

Check out what Mindoddity still has in stock, they had a bunch of Hikari REALLY cheap, like $15-20 each.

For Groot I would highly recommend regeneration green groot, that could be my favorite non-Astro boy hikari!

I think the Frankenstein Hikari are great! You can find some good deals price wise on them too.
Cant go wrong with the original color way Vader and Boba Fett.

Regeneration Groot and Vader are pretty cool.

I'm not a fan of the Spiderman sculpt, even though I'm a huge Spidey fan so I would avoid them. Also, they're much bigger than other Marvel Hikari.

Did not know that about Spidey! I like the hologram Vader a lot. I figured if there is a Hikari in the Star Wars year one box, assuming they make one of course, it'd probably be good to have a SW one. Deadpool is one of my favorite characters and he isn't too spendy either. But I really like that Infared Boba... I'll check out Hulk too. :) And I saw you posted that in another thread! I may get Groot from there but I'm trying to stick to eBay. I just got paid from a few friends on Paypal so I'd rather use that money up.

Oh wow just looked and he is awesome! I think I saw him in Hot Topic one time and even then thought he looked cool.

I was looking at all of those ones not too long ago. They do seem cool!

I'd like to have a Groot one and it seems like the regeneration one is a fave. Noted on Spider-Man, will avoid! Btw funny sig lol

So I think I have it narrowed down to a top three:

626 Stitch: $45 (a little high but I really like this one)
Image

Infrared Boba: $36 (pretty much guaranteed buy for me atm)
Image

Regeneration Groot: $57 (much pricier than I would prefer but SO COOL)
Image

Also found this groot for only $35

What are your thoughts?

Pictures rarely do justice.

Regen Groot you should be able to find fairly cheap. He was a Hot Topic exclusive and at one point both on clearance and part of the "but one on clearance, get one for $1" sale.

I am a big fan of regular Groot and the BGV exclusive Annihilation Groot (which they have for $46 w/free shipping plus they have an eBay store).

Image

Mindoddity still has regular Groot on sale for $20.

Infrared Boba Fett looks super sharp in person ($35 at Gemini right now). Gemini's Starfield Vader is a very cool piece as well.

Image

PS: Classic Deadpool is $25 at Gemini also & they do take PayPal. Just saying... ;)

It's not as eye catching as some of the other finishes but it's still a good looking piece

Agreed, I was slightly disappointed when I received mine. The body is a mostly matte black with some blur overspray on top of dome/head. I was thinking the blue was going to be translucent to better replicate the effect from the movie. Liked him enough to keep it but if I had known the look before I ordered online I would have skipped him in favor of another colorway.

Probably the Starfield since he's a nice blend of the traditional Vader colors with a touch of the translucent glitter HIkari flair. Though I also really dig the Holographic Vader, looks so sharp in the light...

I have the first, non glow version. The glow is cool but I prefer the translucent blue & glitter along with the holographic foil strips inside the first version myself.
