If you don't collect Hikari...

Postby JoshHeffington » Tue Sep 12, 2017 1:11 pm

So if you don't collect Hikari... what would be ONE that would definatley make you get it?

I'd sure go for X-Men. Phoenix/Dark Phoenix/White Phoenix. or an Emma Frost/Diamond Emma Frost!

When I didn't collect Hikari, the one that did it for me was the Mickey Mouse's. I saw the Gold Glitter one and ever since then I've been collecting them.

Like you say, X-Men would make me get it but even at that, I'm not sure about the large figures. It would have to be epic. I would be more interested in the smaller size.

The only reason I don't have any of the Huckleberry Hound Hikaris is due to lack of space. I don't even have the room for the Pops and Dorbz I have.

I don't colllect them, but it's not for them not being cool. I feel like once I pick up one it's over and I will be collecting a ton of them. I really like the style and the various paint jobs, maybe I will start grabbing them.

Freddy Krueger
Superman
Wolverine
Ghost Rider
Silver Surfer
The Flash

I'd prefer mini hikaris now, love their size, but if any of these came out in regular size I'd do my best to try to get them. Price is still high for what they are to me, but who knows. :D

As far as regular hikaris go, I would have to say price point. I find hikaris appealing but I cant get over that steep retail price point. I may have to take the plunge though if they decided to make a dragonzord hikari :D

There is so much truth and irony in that statement! I've only bought one full sized Hikari. Why? Because they're too big and take up too much space. Ah but when the minis came out, they're small! I can collect these! So now I have, I don't know, something like a dozen of the minis. What takes up less space, one full size Hikari or a dozen minis? -cough- I can't wait until Funko comes out with micro Hikari so I can buy 10,000 of them, because they're so small lol

Sofubi is pricey stuff. Material and manufacturing technique are more complicated. Hikari are a lower grade material than the true Japanese sofubi (they can run $80-$200 for comparable size pieces) but still a much higher grade material than pops, etc.

The LE100 Green Incredible Hulk from ECCC.

I only collect two characters from the Hikari line are Hulk and Megazord. I have contemplated getting the Voltron but have resisted this path.

That would be counter to the point of the Hikari line being a tribute to the Japanese Sofubi monster figures. The difference in the material quality, colors (translucent, glitter, stuffed with foil strips, etc.), technique and paint applications are what make Hikari unique and not something that could be replicated with the same vinyl used for pops.

Personally, it's a different market than pops and that is okay by me.
