Starting collection
These are my favorite products. I would like to start a collection. Where should I look for reasonably priced ones to start out with?

Re: Starting collection
best average prices are actually from comic shops, private sales, smaller vendors. Usually the retail for them is 10/pop. If you go to HT/GS/BN/etc, you can usually get the pops for around 10-12.50 for commons and even 5-8 ea when on sale. Welcome to Funko collecting. Hope you know once you pop, you can't stop

The best priced Hikari come from Ebay, honestly. Even the newest releases will show up for 10-20 less.

Yup, Ebay is almost always your best choice for Hikari unless you can find a clearance section somewhere.

Mike & Scott are right, eBay is your best friend for Hikari deals. Gemini has a few solid clearance deals right now and I have scored a few steals off of Walmart.com of all places as well.

Sometimes places like Hot Topic will have them on clearance for cheapish. Still pricey but it's a start.

Re: Starting collection
As a lot of other people have stated, eBay is a great place to look to start your collection. There you will find people either looking to unload items they no longer want or even small comic shops that sell their own items to generate more revenue.
Local toys shows and swap meets are a great place to look too. You can usually find out about them through local comic book stores and small local toy shops. They often times have fliers for upcoming events.

I am on their email list and every so often they will send out an email with all sale pops. They are usually around $7ish but I have seen them in the $5 range. It's worth signing up for the email list just to get the info, assuming you don't mind deleting everything else they send

I agree local comic book stores tend to put pops on clearance more than anyone else. I got the whole saved by the bell collection for like 12 dollars not too long ago. I have seen Best Buy do 1.99 pops quite often too.

Re: Starting collection
Ebay is a good place to start identifying potential Hikaris you want. From there you can do your owm shortlist and figure out what the asking prices are like online, and keep on the lookout for steals!

Re: Starting collection
Walmart.com has some deals now on 3 packs, for example the 8-bit Rampage 3 pack for $10 with free store pickup. Amazon often has lots of pops as add on items for around $5. (But you have to add them on to an order of $25+.) And don't forget to pay attention to discount codes that sites like Hot Topic frequently have, they can really add up over time. (Saying this to myself as well, I'm always forgetting to add them in
)

Re: Starting collection
Clearance sections are our favorite way to build our collection. Our favorites are to watch Hot Topic for buy 1, get 2 free clearance sales (although BOGO clearance sales are good too). They've been happening lately and in our case, we bought some clearance Pops & Dorbz for $5-$8 but got 2 more for free. Watch Target for the backend caps in the electronics department for clearance Pops -- and look in the toys department clearance for them too (typically not supposed to be there, but sometimes they end up there). We've gotten lucky at Disney stores too -- sale/clearance section usually towards the back of the store.

Funko seems to have eased up on Hikaris ever since 4th of July. Hope to see something cool coming soon!
Being new just have a look at what ebay holds to have a rough sense of the upper limit of prices.
