Dear Brian/Funko/Vinyl Sugar: Make the Dorbz boxes smaller!

Postby ZeoVGM » Wed Sep 30, 2015 1:15 pm

I know Brian has been reading and posting so I hope he sees this.

The Dorbz boxes really need to be smaller. Truthfully, they should be the size that they look in the glam shots that are released.

I don't even say this as a collector, as I open everything. I say it as a fan who wants the Dorbz line to be very successful.

Based on all the new lines Brian mentioned yesterday, it sounds as if Funko might be happy with sales. But I definitely don't see that myself. At the Newbury Comics and Toy Vault (both north east chains, I believe) near me, they have Dorbz but they're hidden away. At Toy Vault, they're on the floor under a giant walls of Pops. At Newbury Comics, they're on the bottom shelf under a wall of Pops (and you needed to literally get down on your knees to pull the Dorbz out to even see them).

The guy at Toy Vault today told me they don't seem to be selling there.

I think a problem with this is that they are essentially competing with Pops for shelf space.

By making the boxes smaller like in the glams, it makes it more likely that retailers will commit to making a specific display for them -- which in turn makes it more likely that people will see them and buy them.

Granted, maybe I'm wrong and sales are absolutely fantastic and it's just in my Mass/Rhode Island area where they don't seem to be selling. But I really want the line to succeed. I love Pops and have a ton but it's nice to get in at the beginning of a line like Dorbz. Not only that, but they're cheaper and, uh, adorable.

Oh yeah, I'm already boxless. I'm just speaking from a "space in retail stores" perspective.

Winged, eh? Sounds like Castiel to me!
