Mystery Machine paint QC issues

Postby treswright » Mon Jun 20, 2016 1:40 pm

Man I've really been looking forward to getting the Mystery Machine, but some are starting to surface on eBay and I am not liking what I see! First for comparison, here is the glam:

Image

Now look at the top pinstripe over the door on this one, and the same pinstripe over the rear panel (the paint line goes above the pinstripe in places):

Now look at this one, they just punted on the pinstripe over the door handle and said "forget it" lol :

Here's another, similar issues:

Based on the glam, Funko intended the paint transition and pinstripe to be at the TOP of the bodyline reveal, but the company producing it chose to place it at the BOTTOM of the reveal, thus causing the interference issue at the door handle.

Anyway I'm still buying one, but I will wait and get one in the store so I can check it out closely before buying!
Howdy, I'm Tres :-)

hope whoever is painting those doesn't moonlight as a surgeon. Those aren't steady hands that's for sure.

Sorry for the delay and no pics but my Mystery machine is the exact same way. Horrible line above the door handle on both sides

Rats. Well I have done a lot of detailed painting on model cars so hopefully I can fix it when I get one!

Is Fred the same as the single Dorbz? I don't think I'll need two of him and would just get the one with the Mystery Machine.

Exactly the same. I've done that with all the Dorbz rides so far. No need for the extras ;-)

So all the Dorbz drivers have been identical to the regular releases so far? Interesting, I wonder why they didn't make them variants like they've done with all of the Pop Rides drivers (except Batman and Marty).

I have to take it back. Egon was different in the ride (covered in marshmallow) than the single release. The others are no different than the single release.
Though I will say they seem to lead more on new figures in the Dorbz rides (Einstein, Wonder Woman, all of the SDCC exclusives)

This is a bummer. Wonder if the entire batch will be this way or just this first initial wave. It appears as though the spacing was off when they painted the green on.

I think the single Fred will look different as the ride comes with Fred in a stripped shirt and so far all of the glam shot have Fred in a white shirt.
