Batman Dorbz Error Exclusive? Unreleased Batman 1989??

Has anyone else noticed that the Batman in the 'Batman Returns Dorbz 3 Pack' is actually the Batman from 1989? You can tell this by the logo on his chest. Batman Logo


I'm going to start communication with Funko. Could this be an error? or maybe exclusive? (aside from the 'SDCC exclusive' theme)

I hope they are able to get the license for the Joker eventually. I would love to have one. I just want more Batman Dorbz in general, especially the villains.

That was one of the first things to come to my mind when I bought the Returns pack: we need Jack Nicholson's Joker in Dorbz form. Hopefully, they'll get approval for next year.

Actually, as corny as the Shumacher films were, I'd love to have Dorbz from them as well. It would make a pretty sweet tiered display:

Batman, Catwoman, Penquin
Batman, Robin, Riddler, Two-face
Batman, Robin, Batgirl, Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze

Jack wants WAY too much for his likeness. That's why none of the official figures back then didn't resemble him, even in the slightest. It would probably be cost prohibitive for Funko to even try.

Chest logo and breast plate are off. Batman Returns breast plate was much more stylized in an art-deco way. I've been wondering why they opted to make 89 Batman in this set since it was first teased. I opened mine, so it's not an issue, but I think the Batman Returns labeling would bug me if I was an in-box collector.
