What's with the weird dorbz prices

Postby monktoast » Thu Apr 26, 2018 9:44 pm

They are inconsistent...the retail prices. I know different stores can price things differently but like..a pop is 12.50 retail..may be at target or 10 at hobby store but retail is 12.50.

Dorbz are weird.

Seen one said 8.99

One said 10.99

Exclusive gird vader is 17.50

I mean..come on they are all the same size.

The dorbz are expensive at the disney store. Even the regular star wars dorbz are 11.95 there.

I think they are no more diverse in price than Pops. Disney Store Pops are more than normal places and most exclusives are going higher now as well. And most of the places that carry them at higher prices frequently have sales or promos that put them at prices more in line with everywhere else.

Dorbz prices don't bother me, especially since waiting for awhile usually means they go down in price. The last DC wave I got for $5 clearance on a buy get one for $1 promo.

It's weird how Amazon (not third party sellers) has been pricing them. Some recent regular releases are almost $18 whereas others are $9. It makes no sense.

You could say the same thing about Pops...

Walmart - $8.78
Barnes & Noble - $8.95
Target - $8.99
Box Lunch - $10.90 for some $11.90 for others
GameStop - $11.99
Hot Topic - $12.50
Funko Shop - $15.00
Disney Parks - $15.00

It's just like fast food restaurants where prices are going to differ depending on where you go even though you are getting the same thing basically.

Hmm..yea it doesn't really bother me because I do know prices drop a lot on most of them..it's just so odd. Well..the price does bother me I totally skipped that vader because 17 is steep for one..20 bucks after taxes......

Yeah the Star Wars ones were weird, but I wonder if Disney had some say in how they wanted to price them? It looks like a lot of them dropped down to $11 or so which isn't as bad.

They probably do..it's disney we talking bout here lol they want more profit per sale..also they don't have as many stores so not as much buying power

That's my best guess

I usually pay $9 per Dorbz. I’d say stay away from the Disney store cuz thats an insane markup!

I can't honestly say I've noticed, par the Disney Store Vader. With postage and tax that worked out something daft like $25, which I'm not going to pay for a Dorbz.
It always seems cheaper to get Dorbz on the secondary market, par the odd few, anyway.

The Disney Parks prices are crazy, which I find interesting considering the large volume they buy from Funko.

Amazon has very reasonable Dorbz prices, I always buy commons from there.

I know that disney store had them on sale a little while back and it brought down the price quite a bit. Really just have to wait for sales.

I was shocked when I went to DLR and it was 15. I was like, why is the price so high here!? But then I remembered where I was, haha.

If I'm right, the Star Wars line is fully exclusive to the Disney Store and other Disney outlets. So, they will always be a high priced item cause of that.

Common Dorbz shouldn’t be more than $8 retail, exclusives $10, imo. Disney is notorious for marking up everything so that explains that price point. lol

Never realized there was such a wide range. Clearly the limite or exclusive ones are almost always more. But I always figured they were around $10.. range $8-$12.

Amazon has a strange algorithm too where as something is getting purchased more often the price goes up (from what I have heard) which can lead to one pop or dorb being priced much higher than another in line. However, with the Disney store a lot of times they charge a lot initial because when they have sales they can discount deep.

I often wonder if Dorbz wouldn’t sell better if they were reduced in their base price point (ie Since they are much smaller than Pops, if the price were smaller to reflect that size difference, would they be more popular?)

I agree..they are much smaller and less popular..but at the same time..probably the same amount to manufacture and design.

But a lower price might get more in on it

I'm glad I'm not really into any Disney brands bc that company simply charges higher prices for its products knowing that people will pay them.

It all depends on the store and what they get them at for whole sale I'm sure. The way I see it if I want it, I'm going to pay for it. Whether it's not for whatever the regular price is, or in the secondary market at a mark up. And that's when I get lucky to find dorbz in store

I see it similar to Pops. Different stores have different prices. I wish it was more consistent though.

Disney is good at making money...they have the stuff you want, but your wallet is never the same again.

It’s a shame, since I think the Star Wars line of dorbz, is one of the best

I prefer to buy Dorbz for about $8. I usually buy them from Barnes and Noble. They usually have the best price on them unless Hot Topic has a sale online
