That's awesome! My first Dorbz proto was Batman at Fundays. :)

That is super cool. I have a soft spot for Fallout Protos. I want one from each line...but having a whole set of Fallout Dorbz Protos would be so amazing.

I think that Dorbz had some amazing potential. I think we saw too many of them at the beginning, as we were sort of inundated with them (just my opinion) and it got pretty hard to keep up with them pretty fast. I love the look of them, and the packaging, but it just felt like it didn't click as well as we all hoped maybe. I would be happy seeing some new dorbz figures being released every once in a while still.

I actually think them dying down a bit would make them more desirable for special events going forward. I might say that for a lot of the different products.

Definitely agree that if they released them for special occasions with a limited release amount, it would spur up some interest. If I were at such an event and they were possible prizes or whatnot, I think I would be very happy for the opportunity to recieve one.

It would be great to see a few of the “abandoned” lines like Dorbz, Hikari or Vynl show up randomly on Funko Shop or con exclusives every now and then.

A game prize is actually perfect, bc then it adds the idea that you earned it to the exclusivity.

The issue is that they tried making them limited. A lot of the Hot Topic exclusives, con exclusives and even some commons where numbered and it didn't boost sales. If they brought them back more limited, they would have to go super limited (less than 1000 pieces) for there to be interest in my opinion.

That’s true, i think on both accounts. The chases and numbered LE really aren’t worth much. Maybe batches of 500 or so?

I think dorbz could have been a great toy to collect from an OOB collector standpoint. I don't think the space to display would be in great demand like pops are. You could make multiple different tier levels of risers and fit hundreds of Dorbz on one shelf. Also the price point for Dorbz was very affordable. I'll be sad to see this line fade away.

Riddle me this: Brian released 6 Hanna Barbera Pez and 3 Toy Story Pez (all 1500 pieces) on the shop recently. Going by things it seems retail Pez aren't coming out anymore as commons and that these were designs he wanted. Toy Story was going to be a common wave but it was cancelled and made a limited Funko Shop wave. He's also doing 3 MOTH Pez for ECCC

Why can't this continue for Dorbz? The waves were at least double the size when they were on the shop, seemed to do as well as the Pez are doing and it seems Brian has the power to keep the line going if he really wanted to. The truth is he doesn't care about Dorbz anymore, and maybe never truly did feel a connection to them like other lines. Sad but eh
It doesn't matter the amount you have or length you collected, but that you're happy with what you own

Current Goal: Get The Three Caballeros created as Pops and Funko Soda

Getting there, we got Caballeros Loungefly for 2020!

That's definitely not true. If you take a look at his office he's got a very large Dorbz collection and even had custom Misers made specifically for him. He's come out many times and said Dorbz were his favorite line, but he has always been a Pez head so it does not surprise me that they are still rolling out Pez. Money talks and I'm sure Dorbz weren't pulling enough weight.

Exactly! These are the other Funko lines a lot of us love. It’s a shame they didn’t take off in the retail arena but they are definitely worth revisiting and hyping on Funko Shop and even con exclusives.

BUT, Funko does have a tendency to drop less popular lines here and there as exclusives for Funko shop and cons (Rock Candy, Hikari, etc.).

Re: Are Dorbz done???

Postby fbingha » Thu Mar 05, 2020 4:56 pm

I am not missing Dorbz at all as I never connected to them. They were even the first thing I took out of the box but just meh to me. Only speaking my truth. I did really like the Dorbz Ridez but felt a bit abused that Brian couldn't finish the Wacky Races. So I sold or gave or put those away.
