Bought my first mystery minis

Great things come in mysterious miniature or pint sized packages, but which great thing will it be? It's all a mystery until you open one. Then the fun begins.

Bought my first mystery minis

Postby jester00 » Tue Feb 03, 2015 1:20 pm

So I had some gift cards from work I needed to use up. Since I had gotten all the pops I wanted, I decided to try a few mystery minis.

Bought 3 walking dead series 2 and 4 marvel ones. Walking dead I got regular governor, zombie girl, and a charred walker. Marvel I got a galactus, regular deadpool, dark phoenix, and a loki with scepter 1/144.

Not to bad for a spur of the moment purchase. Don't think I'll be trying to make a set though. I hate the thought of buying 4 and getting 2 doubles LOL.

I have 3 regular Governors right now, I know how you feel. But welcome to the world of minis!

Thanks. I wish I could find the horror minis. Those are the ones I'm most interested in. But I can't find them anywhere near me.

Minis are a long time love of mine, I have around 80 but no complete sets. I wouldn't worry about it so much.

I've found some of the horror minis in random places. Target and Toys R Us seems to stock them and then forget about them for some months and then stock them again.

Try Hot Topic. The 3 HTs in and around Austin have been putting out new boxes, recently.

They're on hottopic.com now for $6 each, you won't have to worry about people cherry picking either.

I love the mystery minis! I have 4 of the TMNT minis, Mikey, April, Shredder, and Casey Jones. I have two science fiction minis, Jayne and Spok. And two horror minis, regular Jason and Freddy. The one and only science fiction mystery mini my brother bought was the Rocketeer....my luck sucks lol.

I love the minis but I know what you mean, so many doubles. I am actually building a chess set with my minis, using my army of ETs as the Pawns for one side and my army of Joffreys as the pawns for the other.

Im debating on purchasing a case of minis, most likely the horror series, is it worth it to do it this way?

Oops, let me give an explanation. I will only buy a case if the rare minis (1:72 or 1:44) are mostly unique characters. The horror ones are mostly bloody or GITD version of other figures. Unless you are trying to complete the full set I would just get a few and trade for the ones you want. Just my opinion though, its a great set so you cant go wrong.

Thanks for the advice! I love the horror series, very nostalgic for me, even though I was completely terrified of Chucky as a child......

Oh definitely, I would love to have I.T. as well, as I remember watching that movie all the time when I was a kid

If your not looking for the complete set, the normal Pennywise (IT) looks a lot better than the GITD one

I agree, I would like to have both, but will definitely be fine with the original

Love the minis. Unless you're in love with all the figures in a set, you're better off buying a few here and there and trading for or cherry picking the ones you want.

Cherry picking..used to describe a situation where you only pick the the 'best' of something. I don't like every single Mini, so I just buy the ones I like from Ebay or other collectors. I 'cherry pick' the lines

Ah yes, cherry picking, the necessary evil in order to complete MM sets. I finally broke down and bought the Horror Classic NES 8-bit Jason on Ebay... Man, I love that set!

I am consistently collecting minis from The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones series so have doubles to trade with. I'm new to the Funko game though and just took a look at the Horror series. I might be in trouble:-)
