Re: Lord of the Rings Mystery Minis
Oh my god... I saw you say "3 boxes" and I was like, ok, three cases, they're probably just using the terms interchangeably. But no. You MEANT only three boxes. And I was already panic checking the stores because I REALLY don't want to pay out the nose for this set. >_<

I've decided to make an honest effort to try and get sauron. I have a friend visiting New Zealand right now, I'm wondering if they sell these over there

TFL: galadriel TFR: samwise
BBL: gandalf BBR: gimli
BML: frodo BMR: legolas

Got my case in today and got the exact same layout (except Sam and Boromir were switched left to right). I was hoping for Sauron or a Ringwraith, but at least I got Pippin. Saruman and Galadriel are cool though, just more commonly available it looks like. It does feel great to have the nearly complete Fellowship after one case.

I've pick through several cases and what I found is the 1/24, 1/36, and 1/72s are in either the top front left, top back left, or bottom front right. I won't say it's 100% but its worked everytime for me.

Talked to a B&N employee today and they said they have a shipment of 12 on the way for next week. So that's a good sign!

I'm waiting for these to come out here. I'm thinking about picking up a case of 12 and then try and get the 1/24s I don't have from eBay. (I'm never that lucky to get the 1/72s but I did manage to do that with a picked over justice league box today!)

They probably are the exclusives. I remember when GoT series 3 came out, their site didn't have exclusive in the description but they were. However you can't be sure until they arrive.

They should be the exclusives because they had them in the website picture
It looks like they have both the exclusives and regular ones on sale:
Regular: http://www.hottopic.com/product/funko-t ... 94138.html
Exclusive: http://www.hottopic.com/product/funko-t ... 14861.html
Looks like they're sold out the exclusives though for now.

HT exclusives or B&N exclusives?
HT has hit stores, but so far none from Barnes. Oh and TRU has started to get some in too of the common case.

Got super lucky, pulled a Lurtz off a fresh case at Santa Anita HT then Eowyn off a fresh case in Montebello (California). I was so happy seeing Eowyn I gave a Gollum to the HT employee that helped me out.
Lurtz comes in at 77.6
Eowyn comes in at 58.7
Both were somewhere in the top front two
These two weight exActly the same as a Gandalf and Boromir. I have to wonder how many of them I passed up. Oh well at least they’re both mine now!!!

Yeah, I ordered 10 using hot cash and then realized the next day that they were actually the non-exclusive ones. I wish I'd noticed before I ordered them.

Cant wait for prices to drop for some these (at least hoping they will) Some of these pieces on ebay are just ridiculous and its kind of fruitless to try my luck in store with people being sighted with scales weighing stuff

Depending on the stores, and if they're in the same boat as us to the west of them, our ETA on LOTR just got pushed out to March

yeah, I'm really hoping the prices will drop. I really want Lurtz at the very least. My HT hasn't gotten in any new cases since the first two they got earlier this month, so I haven't really had a chance to look for them since then.

I'd recommend a scale, scales are cheap and help improve your luck. Much like reading this forums does by providing info others don't have. Scales are the future for collectors. No more 1/6 dupes for me.

new here and a huge lord of the rings fan. I love these minis. the Gandalf would go well with the Balrog Pop. and perhaps Merry and Pipping with Treebeard... lots of duplicates though. still searching for those exclusives though the boxes are hard to come by. Our gamestops don't have them. HT only got one case, and BN only 3 boxes which I missed out on...besides ebay, any tips to get sauron, and the nazgul?

Yeah indeed... Scales, especially when Funko are going to persist with so many 1/6s and crazy ratio'd exclusives, are a necessity these days, if only to distinguish between a 1/6 Frodo or Sam (taking up 1/3 of each case!) and a 1/24 Gollum...
Mine has definitely saved me from getting even more Sorting Hat Potter trio or Snapes or Thestrals in their last series...

Just bought 5, no dupes, no exclusives. Ratios are tough on this one.

I don't mind the 1/6 for the ones where they do that for the store exclusives like some of the Thor line. The way it works is then the 1/6 store exclusives work out to trade for 1/12 normals or even 1/24 in some cases. Whats crazy is anything over 1/36 (which are hard enough) as store exclusives. Hot Topic has a lot of locations but isn't known for restocking them much. I think this strategy must be paying off in the short run, but I think long run it will haunt them if people stop caring.

I opened up many Gandalfs and Boromirs too. But I took a chance because I never seen these weights up front in a fresh case. I've seen Lurtz mentioned around 78.1 but my particular Lurtz, no matter what box , wrapping and black bag i use keeps coming in too close to Gandalf. Same with Eowyn.

Yeah exactly... Even Disney Afternoon series did that with their 1/12 Scrooge and the Chip N Dales swapping out for Magica and swimming scrooge and Negaduck... It just seems a more logical and fair way to do it, but that's not the way their business division thinks... I fear like you commented at the end, that this will start to bite them in the arse and they won't understand it's because they keep screwing their fans with exclusives and rares and stop doing the more non-mainstream ones...
