DC Universe Blind Box case layout

Great things come in mysterious miniature or pint sized packages, but which great thing will it be? It's all a mystery until you open one. Then the fun begins.

DC Universe Blind Box case layout

Postby gokou105 » Fri Apr 26, 2013 10:35 am

For those who are getting cases, can you please post pics of where each characters were pulled from in the case? Just want to see if people will have the same case layouts and to help others know where to pull for certain pieces without buying another case to complete their set.

Didn't seem like there was much of a set layout with the previous boxes...Also something to note, a lot of retailers will mix up the boxes while pricing them, restocking or even on purpose so the good ones aren't cherry-picked. No guarantee you'll get the one you want with that method if you're picking it out at a store. Good luck to all the blind box pickers! I can't wait for the DC set to come out!

I didn't know they didn't have a set layout since no one posted pics of their case layouts of the Disney Mystery Minis. I know what you mean. Some times I see stores open brand new seal cases of Kidrobot blind boxes in front of me and I just pick from the spots that I studied on the forums. That was how I completed some of my sets or got the ones I wanted. I just wanted to see if they do the same as Kidrobot because their blind boxes comes from China too. Just thought they may use the same manufacturer LOL.

Thanks Michael! Just want to see if they are like Kidrobot's blind boxes.

Yeah, I know Kid Robot does that. With Funko and with several really rare pieces (like the 1/144 or whatever it is) it's just not possible to have a consistent layout. Really does make it difficult for the less adventurous blind box grabbers. But luckily that's why eBay is around (for us less than lucky types!)

Calvin, do you have a "location naming standard" (like a chess board) that should be followed?

You can but instead of writing where each one was, you can just take a picture like the one below where the case is facing you but funko might have 2 levels (12 blind boxes on top and 12 on the bottom) unlike kid robot only having 1. Maybe just label which pic is on top and which is on the bottom.

Alyssa, in the NY Kidrobot store they mess with the Blind boxes all the time. Calvin gave me the lay out and it didn't matter. I watched what they did. When they get low in the case that they were selling from the employees would go in the cabinet below pull out minis and put them in the case on display so that screwed with everything!

Places like Hot Topic typically just open the case and set them out for sale. If you are the first to get to the case it is prime for the picking.

But the San Francisco Kidrobot store is very nice...I told them that I was looking for certain ones in the Post Apocalypse series and wanted to pick from a sealed case. They actually open a brand new case for me and let me choose which ones I wanted. I went there so many times during that release, they all recognize me LOL. I mainly just wanted to know if Funko's case is really random without case layouts unlike Kidrobot where as other people has the exact same layout.

When my case arrives, I will get photos for you as well. The Mystery Minis are double stacked, so I will get a photo of the top and bottom layer.

No problem :thumbleft:

I found it funny that the first layer started with characters from the bottom of the rarity chart, then I progressed up the chart as I opened the bottom layer. :-k

Asked @OriginalFunko via Twitter what the assortment # meant on the cases and got the following answer:

"it's the rarity scale, yo! :)"

I think i may be getting screwed with lol , but in the event the # does matter, I've messaged a few smaller retailers and shops to see if i can request certain assortments. I'll post the replies if and when i get them.

Received today from Eddie at Plunder Run:

"In my opinion, i don't think there is a rhyme or reason, I have seen with my own eyes two people open case assortment "C" in the store, and both were different, one contained a 1/144 Sulley the other did not. These were the Disney ones, DC could be different.

I may not of the case assortment you want but I can check for you if you like, let me know!"
