Finding Dory MMs!

Great things come in mysterious miniature or pint sized packages, but which great thing will it be? It's all a mystery until you open one. Then the fun begins.

My case of Finding Dory minis arrived today. Was kinda bummed about learning Nemo and Dory were to be 1/6. Really hate it when they put two of the same character per case. Thankfully, most of the ones I really wanted were 1/6 or 1/12. Bailey (the beluga whale) and Destiny (the whale shark) being the two I most wanted otherwise (wouldn't have minded Fluke, Rudder, or Becky either).

Got super excited to start opening them when they arrived.

Bottom Row Layout
Image

No surprise seeing two Dory and two Nemo. Happy to see Mr Ray (really love the figure sculpt and paint on him). Pearl wasn't one I was really after, but totally expected as she's 1/12.

Top Row Layout
Image

Honestly kinda disappointed. Knew I'd snag Hank, Marlin, and 'tagged' Dory, all of whom I wanted. Figured that left me three shots at getting at least two of the five others I was hoping for. Really wished for Destiny the most. But, my terrible luck with Mystery Minis continued. Wasn't too keen on the Camouflaged Hank personally, but not upset to discover him in the case as he'll make pretty decent trade bait (and I wouldn't really be upset keeping him if he doesn't). The Seal With Bucket was probably the one I wanted least of the whole set, so naturally, I'd get him - LOL. And of course, because my luck sucks, I happen to get the case that someone makes and error in packing at the factory and end up with two 1/12 Hanks, one being the front right corner on the top layer, which is usually where you'd find the rare figures.

So, I'm kinda bummed in all honesty. Got all the common (ie in every case) ones I wanted, but zero of the others I was hoping for. Hopefully someone out there may be willing to trade...

Despite my results, I do have to say that these are some really cute Mystery Minis. Really excellent sculpts and nice paint jobs on all of them.

Happened to me with a 1/12 Regular Cap case where I got 3 Falcons. Was p***. Also happened to me on an Arkham knight Case where I got 2 Arkham knights.

If I get all singles in a 1/12 regular case I ALWAYS count myself lucky, because getting doubles in a 1/12 regular case is the suckiest luck of all!

That being said, the 1/72 shark is SUPER SUPER heavy! If you find a box, and find one that feels like a paper weight, its the shark.
I have 58 Dorbz, 718 Pops, a ton of Minis, and other random stuff that I really don't need but I just love to have because it is an addiction now....

Went ahead and bought myself a Destiny on the bay of e's. Got her for about $20 after a coupon, so not too terribly bad and it saves me from trying to hunt her down in the wild. Hope to get Bailey the beluga whale and maybe Fluke and Rudder at some point. Would like Becky too, but I don't think my budget could handle another 1:72. Maybe if I see them in person sometime I'll grab a couple and hope to get lucky.

I found an untouched case at HT and a friend and I bought the ones we were hoping for based on your pic. I can say we confirmed the first four boxes on the top. ;) Also you are right, Destiny is HUGE. Now I just need an Otter and a Becky.

Nice pickups you pulled there ;)

Anyone need their own Dory & Nemo pair that isn't planning on picking up a full case?

Tried picking up three HT exclusives from a 'new and untouched case'...

Got regular Hank and two of the 1/6 Dorys.

I'm beginning to have serious trust issues.

Are there HT exclusives? The boxes I got earlier came from HT but they don't say anything about there being exclusives.

There are no HT exclusives. It's a regular "tiered" ratio series, with no store exclusives.

I really didn't mean to want this whole set.... but now I do. The more of them I see in person the cuter they are. The three sea lions are hilarious, and Marlin is so over it. My only regret/concern is why is there no Crush? Like really... we have 3 Dorys, 2 Nemos, 2 Hanks. They really could have worked in space for Crush.

I agree completely. I feel like they could have easily axed the 1:6 aspect of Dory and Nemo, make them 1:12 and add Crush and someone else. Still, these are some of the best minis they've made yet IMO. The more I look at pics of the ones I don't have, the more I want the whole set.

BTW - Does anyone not planning on buying a case need a regular Hank? I've got an extra if you do.

I agree. I went a little overboard this weekend and now I only need a few to finish the set. Thankfully I've only gotten two duplicates, so it hasn't been that bad. I think my favorite so far is Gerald (Bucket Sea Lion) but i'm reserving judgement until I see Becky the Loon in person.

Guys and gals, please keep in mind that if you're looking to buy a piece, there is a 'WTB' section on the board. If you're looking to trade, there is also a section. You must meet requirements to post in there though. Posts will be deleted if there is a trade of wtb being mentioned. Sorry!

I love these Mystery Minis. I need The baby otter, Becky the loon (of course) and invisible Hank to complete the collection. I have already so many doubles if anyone needs to trade. I got the 1/36 whale as a double and both 1/24 sea lions. I don't know how to post pics on this site, but my IG account is Babakittysdada to see all of my collections. I really think I need a mystery mini intervention :)))))

How was the movie? (I assume you liked it, given the desire for the minis - I mean in comparison to Finding Nemo). I loved Finding Nemo and have been eagerly awaiting this sequel, but can't go to theatres (anxiety issues) so the wait for DVD seems excruciating right now. LOL

I really enjoyed it. Finding Nemo is my favorite Pixar movie so I was really looking forward to this one and was not disappointed. I didn't like it quite as much as the original but I really liked it.

Good to hear that. I read the review in Entertainment Weekly and they kinda made it sound disappointing. I'd definitely put Finding Nemo up there with the Toy Story movies as my favorite Pixar film (which gets number one changes all the time - lol)

Don't listen to the critics and crumby reviews. The movie was fantastic. If you like Pixar movies you wont' be disappointed. Most critics would complain that rain is too wet, the sun too hot and Mystery Minis to mini.
