Barbie Mystery Minis

Great things come in mysterious miniature or pint sized packages, but which great thing will it be? It's all a mystery until you open one. Then the fun begins.

Barbie Mystery Minis

Postby stacyinil » Mon Jun 13, 2016 3:13 pm

I just received my pre-ordered case from Big Bad Toy Store and uploade some photos, mainly of the packaging. I hope to take more photos soon.

Here's the case and blind box packaging.

Here's the pull ratio chart. I was sad to see that the black and white swimsuit Barbie is 1/6, but I'm sure I can sell her to a collector in one of my local doll clubs.

A couple of chase figures, Firefighter Barbie and Day to Night Barbie.

No one seems to have any love for the Barbie Minis. They are everywhere and no one is buying them!
My partner wanted one specific mini (Barbie and the Rockers from 1986) and it happened to be the one the shop owner opened for display.
We scooped her up and there was no need to look any further.

I think they are fantastic! I just have no personal connection to Barbie.

I was Barbie obsessed as a kid and probably had at least 100 of the things, most of them are still in storage at my parents' house, but these minis just don't do it for me, the style isn't in keeping with the Barbie look I grew up with.

That said, I will totally be buying the 1986 Barbie Rock Candy figure, those look much more "Barbie-ish" to me. :D

I was thinking of getting the 1986 Rock Candy as a gift for my partner. I'll see if I stumble across her anywhere in the wild :)
He has a super touching story he tells about receiving the original 1986 Barbie back when it was released. He was only 7 years old and his father (a working class, construction type) got him that Barbie for Christmas. Not gonna lie, that's a pretty huge move for many fathers today, let alone fathers in 1986!

That story just warmed my heart, that is so wonderful. If only every family could be that loving and accepting! :love5:

Thanks for posting the ratios. Im curious to see how this line does, too.

They're cute, but I don't see myself going for the complete set. Never was a big Barbie fan, but I did have Rocker Barbie (1986) growing up. I'd probably only pick up her and Doctor Barbie (1973).

Now, if they were She-Ra minis... :drunken:

I finally got the full set (as far as I know, there weren't any exclusives)! I can take pictures of some if people are interested. I have a rough pull chart too:

Top
boa 1977 (1/12) | reddress 1980 (1/12)
workout 1983 (1/12) | skirtsuit 1983 (1/36)
doctor 1973 (1/24)| firefighter 1995 (1/24)

Bottom
blondeswim 1959 (1/6) | blondeswim 1959 (1/6)
blondefirst 1960 (/1/12) | stewardess 1971 (1/12)
astronaut 1965 (1/12) | swimsuit 1971 (1/12)

Take it with a grain of salt though, because I watched some opening videos and they had a different layout (maybe they moved theirs around before buying/opening?).

So excited to get this one in the wild! Still not going for the whole set, but when I went into an EB Games, this was their display example, so I jumped for it :)

Got the two I wanted.., very cute, but Rocker Barbie is majorly top heavy and doesn't stand freely unless she's propped up. It's all that massive 80s hair...

My wife only wants a few of these. I am just waiting for a case layout so I can snag her wants lol

My case layout was exactly the same layout as Kihou posted.

At Walmart I bought the first four off the top layer since they had a full case and I ended up with the same 3 chases I already had (Firefighter, Day to Night, and Doctor Barbie) and Great Shape Barbie.

I found a full case at walmart took two out with the layout (already have the 1959 and 1960 barbies), but they had two partial cases. Thought it would be good.

I ended up with all the commons, but 1977.
Got 3 of the 1971 1in12 barbies
And two of the 1959 barbies

Debating going back and buying the rest. But they are probably all duplicates/common ones.

Really want the whole set but I'm down to missing just one common and rares.
And out of them the only ones I wanted from the beginning that I'm missing are 1986 and 1992, and fire fighter.

I believe I have an extra of the fire fighter. I'll go through my doubles tonight and let you know.

I'm missing 3 of the chases, 1986 Rocker Barbie, 1992 Totally Hair Barbie and 1960 brunette Solo in the Spotlight. I can live with not having them.

I just bought my daughter her first Barbie Mystery mini- she got the 1992 doll which I see is pretty rare, but she doesn't seem to like it. Anyone willing to take it off our hands???
Thanks-

What are you looking for it as that's one of the few ones my daughter still needs? We collect Disney Princesses, Disney Villains and Harry Potter if looking to trade.
