It appears these are still happening. So awesome!
Gotta wonder if these aren't totally 'mystery' minis and if each character comes in their own arcade game.

I freaking love these!
And the boxes look like retro arcade cabinets. Looks like maybe a set of 12, even packed cases maybe?

Oh hells yes!!! I'll need 2 cases of these at least. And I honestly hope that they are box specific though I know they probably won't be and there will be the inevitable GS exclusives. Either way, I'm in...

If they are not box specific it's going to create a whole bunch of general confusion and annoyance with casual buyers. "What is there a Pac-man inside my Frogger box?"

I asked Yoko if the box pertains to the mini inside but I don't think she saw my question. I'm guessing it does though.

Those are truly amazing, and I love the arcade cabinet packaging but, does that take away the actual mystery aspect?

Then that defeats the purpose of calling them Mystery Minis and kills part of the fun of not knowing what you are getting. If you don't like that part of it, just go to eBay(or make a want list.) and snag the ones you want.

Doesn't Nintendo own DK? That would explain the lack of Donkey Kong (or DK Jr).

Nintendo's deal with Jakks Pacific is pretty comprehensive and airtight. I don't even think the bobble-head compromise would work on this one. If one company doesn't say no, the other will.

Nobody seemed to mind when the Adventure Time tins came out a few years ago. Those had didn't have the characters and the tin match either, at least not always. For example, I got Fiona in a BMO tin.

Re: Retro Video Game Mystery Minis
First off...I absolutely love these! Everything about them!! The characters, the sculpts, the boxes...EVERYTHING!!!!
With that being said, I still have questions and concerns.
** Like most of you I wonder if the box will determine the character or if it will be like the Adventure Time minis and be completely random.
** The list on the blog post shows 6 game titles (PAC-MAN, Ms. PAC-MAN, Q*bert, Frogger, Mega Man & Dig Dug)
** The box shows 7 game titles (Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Q-Bert, Frogger, DigDug, Mega Man, but I cannot make out the 7th title
** The pic shows characters from 7 game titles - Pac-Man & Ghost, Ms. Pac-Man & Ghost, Q-Bert & snake, DigDug with dinosaur & tomato man, Frogger, Centipede, and what looks like the Galaga ship
** What exclusives can we expect from GS & HT
Sadly, no matter what the answers may be...I will still be ordering a case for this set

I think we can expect Blinky and Pinky to be swapped out with Clyde and Inky.

Agreed, as well as multiple Mega Man variants.
I also wonder what the ratio will be for each character. There are more characters shown than space available.

Funko did say they weren't showing anything exclusive and with mystery minis there is always a few exclusive characters only at hot topic, gamestop or Walmart so I'm gonna guess there will be more retro minis they haven't shown yet.
