Disney Afternoon Full Box or Random Select?

I’m very excited about the Disney afternoon mystery minis and can’t decide if I need to buy a full box of 12 or buy random in the wild to build my set with less duplicates. I have found eBay a good place to locate those one offs. What’s the best approach to get the entire collection?

You would probably be better off with a full unopened case. I think you would have a fewer chase since it's brand new. An open case can be picked through and you might wind up with more duplicates than you think.

Order a regular case then just look for the store exclusives afterwards

If you are serious about wanting the full set, you should buy a whole box, then keep track of the layout and/or weights and use it for future boxes you find.

It doesn't seem like you can get all of them in one case, though. There's 14 regular figures, and nine exclusives. Cases only have 12.

Though to address OP, it depends.

A case might be cheaper, and you have a chance of getting most of the set.

But if you're after specific characters or you just enjoy the thrill of the chase/draw, you can try your luck at pulling some randoms.

Or a combination of both, to try getting them all. ;-)

No you can't. With the ratio for this set, getting a complete set with one purchase is impossible. However getting the unopened case is the best rout to help minimize doubles. Once a case is opened in a store, the store will continue to refill it and customers will shift the layout.
If you plan on grabbing the entire set, getting a case will be the best start.

I think it also kind of depends on how many 1/6 figures they have in the box. If it's many (like Stranger Things), then you might not want to buy a box yourself since you will automatically have several dupes.

with as many figures as this set has if there is even a single 1/6 in it I may be done with Funko.

I absolutely agree.
As there are only 12 minis to a box my only hope is this means 1 chip & 1 Dale per box...no extras lol

These are starting to pop-up on eBay. Do you think they are legit or factory stolen? Some look banged up like they might be factory rejects.

How hard is it to acquire a 1/72 on eBay? I really want to collect all of these figures as well as most of the exclusives but i'm not going to pay hundreds of dollars to get there. I already pre-ordered a case from BBTS so hopefully that will be 12 unique figures to start. If it's not a least 10 I'm going to be mad.

Thanks! That's not horrible. BBTS has them up for $70 right now. $7 a unique figure is reasonable as long as the quality control is there. I hate to have to pick and choose with this line but if I have to make sacrifices I will. I'm not sure I could stomach buying a second case just to randomly wind up with all duplicates.

I would buy a full case and fill-in the exclusives through trades/buys

Thanks for that! So it seems like we're not getting screwed on exclusives this time around... at least for Hot Topic... Will be interesting to see how it works out with other exclusives that don't have as logical characters to swap out, or the ones that would swap out (triplets) are different ratios...

luckily DW is 1:12 and OG Negaduck is 1:6 so it shouldn't be a problem getting them so far, that said i'm expecting TRU Nega to be 1:237 at this point.

Not yet. All I know is from my two random selections was they were top of box selections. Wish I could remember where I took Monterey Jack from.

I picked up 3 at HT yesterday and got 2 dupes of Scrooge swimming in money and the monochrome Negaduck! Happy for these but I really only want Baloo and the Talespin characters

I picked the heavier boxes and they sat in the front. Either top per bottom rows, don't remember. If you find a Baloo please let me know. Might be able to do somethin for you with my extra Scrooge.
