Your best Pull!

Great things come in mysterious miniature or pint sized packages, but which great thing will it be? It's all a mystery until you open one. Then the fun begins.

Your best Pull!

Postby hailmary25 » Wed Dec 20, 2017 3:27 pm

I am talking no layouts scales just plain dumb luck.

I will start I have two.

When I first got into MM I found an older case of GOT minis. Grabbed the heaviest one (no idea why i chose to go with heaviest) and got metallic Drogon.

Second story is when HP series 1 was released. Went into local HT while wife was kids just to check stock like all funko people do. Saw they had two boxes left no case and decided to take a chance. Did eeny meeny miny moe picked the one on the right. Got out store to open and in it sitting pretty was YB Hermione.

So how about all of you?

My luckiest pull was also the Metallic Drogon. Just walking through a target and decided to take a chance. I don’t even collect GoT or watch the show. Have seen plenty of trailers and loved the look of Drogon.

I think my best pulls were getting two 1/72 Mars Attacks Martians from two different stores with picked over cases. That was before I even knew about these forums or about finding case layouts on the web.

Sci-fi Series 2, I pulled a 1/72 Facehugger Kane at a comic shop, and then 5-minutes down the road pulled the HT 1/72 Gold Bender. Good day.

I bought a case of sci-fi series 2 and a case of horror from an online retailer and when I went through them had 1:72 facehugger Kane and Pinhead. That was a good day indeed.

I have had the weirdest luck with last one in the box. Mostly where it is not a duplicate. However, I did pull the 1/72 DCU Series 2 Reverse Flash once.

I got Negaduck from a Disney Afternoon box at TRU the other day. Okay-I did shake the box and guesstimate, but that usually never works for me (see my Trollhunters collection for proof of that! lol)

I wish I could say, but I'm typically the type if I'm going to buy one blind bag/box of anything, I'm going to buy the whole series...I don't know why I can't just buy one blind bag, I have no chill. I've had to stop buying MM since PSH came out.

BUT, I think one of the pulls I was happy about were when the Disney Princesses came out, I really wanted their companions, but the ratios for those were smaller. But I did a fairly decent job of picking out the lightest ones and grabbing most of them.
My name is Mia, and I like warm hugs.

nothing as far as rarity, but my first real mini purchase was the Fallout ones. found a full case, randomly grabbed 2 and got the only 2 I actually wanted out of the set (Mysterious Stranger & Grim Reaper). less accurate pulls were to follow after that....

I think the one that was my luckiest, no weights, no layouts, was pulling Destiny from the Finding Nemo series at an FYE. They just had a jumble of boxes, and I bought a couple to try my luck. I don't think I've ever been happier with a blind pull.

I have a couple of lucky MM pulls. Nothing super fancy, but I was happy to get them.

Tyrael: I had bought 3 HotS MM at GS and one at B&N to try to get him. I ended up pulling Cloaked Nova, (which my litter sister ripped apart :( I'm not kidding. Like, she decapitated her and pulled off her arm. I still have to get a replacement) Stitches, Patriot Jim Raynor, and Diablo. One night between a session at a conference my brother and I were attending, we decided to stop at a Target close by. I walk over to the electronics section and see an almost complete case of HotS minis and pick up the first one. Immediately I could feel his tendrils from lightly squeezing the box and I got super excited! Was really glad to finally track him down in person!

Voltron: I was on a school trip in Washington D.C. and we had spent an afternoon at a nearby mall. We were there for lunch and were given like 25 bucks or so and some certificates for the next 3 lunches. After grabbing lunch I walked into a GameStop there and saw some S2 Sci-Fi minis. I found a box that held some decent weight and pondered whether or not I should pick it up. It could've been Godzilla, the Alien Queen, or Voltron all of which I was okay with pulling. Keep in mind that the $25 of food money was all the money I had for the next few lunch meals. (I had lost my wallet prior to the flight over to D.C.) I said screw it, I'll eat frugally if that means I'll get one of these MM's. Bought it and never looked back. I ate at Burger King the next day.

GitD Princess Celestia: A random stop at HT while doing I forget what. I ran into HT on a whim and saw a full case of the S2 MLP MM's. I saw that there was a GitD Celestia in the set so I grabbed the heaviest box and bam! Pulled GitD Celestia. I really appreciated that impulse buy and still do to this day.

Most recently, I pulled Morgana as my first Disney Afternoon Cartoon without any assistance.

The first mini I ever purchased was WD Series 3... I said to myself "I want Carol," as she was my favourite character. Plain luck...first shot, CAROL! That was pretty much my initiation into minis... it was all up/down hill (?) from there! I was instantly hooked. To me that was the "best" pull ever!

So I'm out driving around with my GF. We stop at our local Walgreens. I usually check to see if they have any new POPs. This day we were checking for Mystery Minis. It just so happened that there was one TWD box left in the store. I said what the heck and grabbed that. As we drove away, we pulled the box out of the WG bag. I said I sure hope it's bloody michonne. As I tore away at the cello wrap, I said to the GF "This must be bloody Michonne because I read that the one with tough packaging was bloody Michonne." She laughed at me. I then opened the box and said "this is definitely bloody Michonne as I read that the one with the black bag was bloody Michonne". She this time told me to shut up. I opened the bag and face down was clearly a Michonne. Now I told her "there was no question it was a bloody Michonne as everything I read said that tough packaging, black bag, and face down Michonne all were signs that it was a bloody Michonne". Now she was irritated so I closed my eyes and flipped the Mystery Mini over.... BLOODY MICHONNE!

There have been other rares along the way, but never any as fun and memorable as pulling a Bloody Michonne out of such a random scenario and having a great time with the GF while we opened it!

Mr Meeseeks w/gun Target Exclusive. I bought like 6 from the Case so I don’t know if that counts as lucky.

I also recently bought 2 The Last Jedi minis for my sibling and he got the Gamestop exclusive Trooper so I guess that was kinda lucky.

Luckiest blind pull was a total fluke - missed the first release of HP MM series 1, didn't even realize there were exclusives that I'd be tracking down! When B&N finally rereleased them, I ordered the max allowed online - 2. Ordered it over Thanksgiving weekend last year, came home from a holiday weekend to a padded envelope with my 2 boxes. Both were good pulls, but the winner was my flocked Fawkes! Pulled many a box after that, but never got that lucky with a blind pull again!
